I saw a show on the Travel Channel once where people from different villages have some type of stone throwing challenge. I think it was in Ireland but can't remember.

Basically, there are 2 players. Each player has a stone. They start out at a village. Player #1 throws the stone as far as he can down the road. Then Player #2 goes. Both players keep taking turns throwing their stones down the road until they reach the next village. Whichever player reaches the next town or village with the fewest amount of throws wins.

Not trying to insult anyone's culture. Americans have frisbee-golf which is also dumb.

For dumb sports, I would say wrestling (the WWE kind, not the kind you would find in the olympics), but then I remember it's all fake and not a sport to begin with.....
.....and I don't count NASCAR a sport.....
.....so I will go with hockey. When you have to legalize fighting during matches to increase popularity, thats a sign your sport isn't worth seeing.

Fighting in hockey has nothing to do with increasing the popularity of the sport. Hockey, and hockey fights, have been around long before television. Fighting is a part of hockey today because of tradition. There is a place for it in the sport, that non-hockey fans don't understand.

Some guy told me the same thing about nascar - that somehow there is more to the 'sport' than crashes.

^well said. Hockey is the best sport in the world. Those of us that have played it and grown up with it, understand this.
Fighting is no different than a pitcher hitting a batter in retaliation for an earlier incident in the game. Or a linebacker drilling the the QB after he passes to send a message.
Every sport has it's way to "police" itself, and fighting is one of those ways in hockey.

I remember I was watching the World Cup some time ago and Japan beat someone 8-0. Probably a record.

I like basketball. Its a good sport that keeps you active.
