Completley disagree...
The new graphics are far superior...
You can finally actually tell that the Major rank is 2 swords - not an X marks the spot...
And the Colonel rank looks uber sexy...

The only thing I would change with the new ranking system is that the early ranks are very close to each other (only 100 points between one and another). I would try to distribute the points gap for the ranks more evenly.
Is that possible at this stage?

The early ranks were designed to be close together. That makes it easier to rise in the beginning, but more challenging gas you go higher.

Can I sue because I just got demoted to a sergeant from a major, and have played over 1500 games, and was a sergeant at game 100 or so?
Because I suffered some trauma here...I really did.
Seriously, I do feel this rank system will actually discourage some players from playing...they wont see the light at the end of the tunnel...by far it is a more accurate measure of a players skill level, but i have a feeling the dificulty in raising in rank will take the fun away for some...
me, ive played 1500 games, now im a sergeant again...the only way I ever become a general is if I become the number one player on the board...ive already been a colonel...have already had 2600 points...not much more for me in the way of achieving rank...i might get used to it, but at the same time...if I just ease back now, and let the game slip...it would be very easy for me to walk away because realistically...ill never grab the generals badge anyways... tough to say what will happen, but I know for others they will get discouraged and walk away...
Actually Ill revise this now that ive looked at the actual ranks...i only looked at the scoreboard and didnt see the other ranks which will definitely keep the best players busy...i might try to grab one myself...who knows..but I do wonder if the players under 1400 might get discouraged with the fact that there are 7 ranks more than them...if they dont see light at the end of the tunnel, they may just give it up...hard to say. but im guessing it will happen to some degree

same, and I don't particularly want people to know I only won 28% of my games

Lol - he is the only player to have been promoted as a result of this update

Thanks guys, I think Jork will be catching me within a couple of weeks though

Hopefully will have played enough games for colonel by then

your biggest fear right now should probably be the new Battle royale, the players who survive to the end of that will still be taking home some real points...god i hope im one of them...i really do...thats all i have going for me in here right now...

yes i know...but the last few players could still be taking out 20 or 30 players at once...i guess thats only 400 or 500 points...but if anyone with rank in there does it...they could nail the top spot easy
my hope is that someone deadbeats to the end for their double turn, so I can get back here, before my turn starts

its only important to those who want it...but playing towards a goal is more fun for me than blindly clicking the armies...if there's nothing at stake...theres nothing to lose or win....
playing is fun, but winning is
really fun...

I'm not so worried about the new rankings. They're like the old, but different. Kinda cool-looking, but then again not so much.
What I'm worried about is the Win % availability. With this now easily accessible I would like to coin a new CC term: % hor. Watch out because if you thought people were point hors in the past with their doubles games, just wait...with the addition of this and the two player game we're about to see a new kinda monster. One that is striving for near-100%.

Actually the ONE BIG NOTHING is actually a sense of accomplishment of setting a goal, and achiving it, and in this case, its a tough one.
For some competition is the fun...but by all means have fun just playing for fun...in many games I do that too, but youll enjoy it more if you dont question those who want to take it to the limit, and become as good as they can
the reason poker is so fun, is there are stakes...and even if its fake money...the part of your brain that enjoys it doesnt care if its real or if its fake...only the repercussions are different after the game...in CC rank and points are the stakes

Not just rank and points anymore, Fitz. % too. Mark my words. Neilhouse said it.

Ok fine I agree with that but maybe 100 is not enough. Why not make gaps of 500 at early stages? With only 100 points I feel that some of the ranks are redundant.
Don't get me wrong, apart from the points distribution I like the new ranks and I actually like the idea of losing a rank or two as it makes the game more challenging.

I don't understand this attitude. More ranks means more to work for, more bragging rights, more overall competitiveness. It is also more realistic to slot in various ranks that weren't there before rather than add tiers of generals at the top. It only makes sense that players will be 'demoted' in rank when that scheme goes into effect. But your relative standing in the community compared to everyone else hasn't changed...
What's the big deal? I WELCOME my demotion and will sign up for a new premium membership when this one runs out.
Nice updates Lack.

Reuben - I think the point is to get people hooked by earning an early rank easily. We all know that you can't walk away from CC once you're really hooked. It's like crack, give it to them cheap, early, and they won't be able to resist later, no matter how hard it gets.
As for the rankings themselves, I think the biggest improvement is lowering the number of games needed to earn a rank. I only play a few games at a time, so I went from a Lieutenant with more points than most Captains, to a Sargent a few wins from Sargent 1st Class, which means people actually can see the points I've earned.
Also, I like silver more than gold, so I'm proud to be a Freemie!

the only thing that I potentially see is that since the top 5 ranks are all on the top two pages...and the rest are on the other 72 pages of players....some may get discouraged...realistically most have no shot whatsoever of ever climbming very high...though, I guess they get to play with the lower rank brackets a lot...every big win will jump a bracket...lol

However, unlike my BR win where all my points were calculated on my score of about 1600, each successive elim will be based on a higher level of points which reduces the points gain over time.
I would have preferred another standard game (although I still wouldn't have joined) - let someone else get another ridiculous points haul to become the new conquerer!

I still can't see anyones rank, as a mac user "refresh" F5 does not compute
Any advice please...and no I will not be getting a PC!
