portsmouth is definately not in the running for the title it`s between munich(man u) chelsea or arsenal but on any 1 day any team can beat the other team munich(man u) have not beaten us in the last 4 games. the passion that comes from football is the 140 odd year history of it the oldest proffessional team is called Notts County there in the english 2nd division(4th teir of the leagues) and they were formed in 1863 if i am not mistaken you americans were still fighting the civil war for passion go to a milan derby or manchester derby or barcalona v real madrdid you could throw in galatasary v fenerbache, aek athens v olympiakos but the most passionate game in the world in my opinion has to be Glasgow Rangers versus Glasgow celtic i have been to quite a few of them matches and the hair stands up on the back of your neck just with the atmosphere 1/2 an hour before the kick off it`s unbeleivable feeling.
i have also been to many of the manchester derbies some wins some losses some draws always very exciting games hardly ever a dull moment.

they charge $20 bucks 4 adult's tickets, $10 4 children & $5 4 students at my high school games

What a rip off. Students get in free at my school and adults are like 6 bucks or something. We get great turnouts

you think that`s expensive at wigan athletic they charge £35(approx $62) for away fans only that`s a rip off

Maybe American TV stations don't want to promote a game that doesn't allow for commercial breaks every few minutes...

I find European soccer very boring because it always just goes back and forth and nobody scores. In American football moving the ball downfield even 20 yards is a big deal. And as to the assumption that the games are easily predictable, bull.

American 'football' hasent got shit on european football!

The two are completely different...it's like asking which is better: basketball, hockey, football (either one), baseball, track and field, etc.

It's a moot point. It's strictly dependant on where and how one was raised and flavored with a sprinkle of personal taste.

Personally, I find American style football and basketball to be the most enjoyable on the tube and baseball games to be the most enjoyable in person (the nostalgic emotions I get from Wrigley Field makes me biased admittedly!).

European football (soccer) hasn't really caught on in the US because it's like hockey...on tv, it's boring as hell to watch. When that observation is coupled with the fact that the majority of the American public is basically illiterate on both the rules and history of the sport (re: soccer), and what you get is a general apathetic view. In time, that will probably change, but I doubt I'll live to see it. Until then, GO BEARS!

Finally! An answer that sort of makes sense. You prefer European-style better because the action doesn't stop. I can kind of see your point. But it comes down to understanding the game, too. To me, an American, watching soccer is kind of boring because all I see is run, run, run and run some more. Watching American-style football is suspenseful in that I wonder what will the next play be?

I just got finished watching my LSU Tigers beat Tennessee so I'm kind of hyped right now.

LSU won? Last I checked, Tennesse had just scored to take the lead with like 5 minutes left! I wish I would've finished watching it...sounds like it was a great finish by LSU...flushed Tennessee's National Championship hopes right down the toilet! Anyone see the OSU vs Illinois or Michigan vs Ball State games? OSU and Michigan looked HORRIBLE.

Nah...no new thread is required. The collegiate football champion should be crowned after a tournament style playoff plain and simple. The BCS formula is crap, I completely agree!

1 noticed that ppl seem 2 like basketball, baseball & american football the most...then i realized y they r the most exciting. In baseball it can be the bottom of the ninth, bases loaded down by 3, in football it can be 2 seconds left 1 timeout, down by 2 trying 2 kick a 54 yard field goal, & in basketball u can hit the buzzerbeater shot. But soccer is less exciting because there r less odds of sum1 scoring a clutch goal since u only score like 3 goals in a game. I remember wen soccer was a hit in america after that girl hit the game winning goal & took her shirt off

I don't watch pro basketball (but I love college ball). Hockey moves too fast that I can't keep my eye on the puck so I never know what's going on. Auto racing - left turn, left turn, left turn - what the heck is so exciting about that? Golf? I'd rather watch grass grow. Wait. You ARE watching grass grow when you watch golf. Chess? Never considered it a spectator sport. You didn't ask, but I find baseball rather boring, too.

1st, ppl seem to like these the most IN USA ONLY, huh?

2nd, for you to know, you can also win a game in last minute in soccer. And, you probably dont have many exciting game finals like you are talking about in these other sports. I mean... how exciting is the last 3-points throw in a basket game, when a team has an advantage of 30 points? Same to american football. As in soccer the score is much lower, rarely a game is decided before the last minutes. And like we said, soccer is a little surprise box... Did you never see a very worse team winning away, how it is usually exciting until game end? And when the goalkepper receives a red card? When the referee gives a penalty wrongly? Odds to make the game exciting is something soccer has a lot.

only exciting soccer game ive ever heard about is that women's world cup & i watched the last couple minutes of this years world cup (which was pretty exciting), not as many clutch situations as football basketball & baseball

I like to watch both european football and american football. I love the world cup and I like to watch the premier teams of the world play. But the MLS, the american football league, just doesnt have the quality of players yet so the game is not exciting to watch.

I think alot of americans don't like european football because it is slow paced. Yes there is somethign constantly going on, but compared to american football, there is rarely an exciting play. While in american football, somethign exciting happens every single play.

I enjoy watching both, and I hope that the american soccer league starts to get better quality of players so we can be a respectable soccer nation. And I think that the popularity here for it is growing and eventually we will be a premiere team to play in the world cup.

he's was only 15 when he played pro "soccer" youngest ever player!!

He probably will play in the premiership eventually. More and more of the american nation team is playing overseas on club teams. Which in a way i think is a great think because it will greatly help to improve the US's chances in the world cup. But that still leaves the problem with the MLS be boring to watch because of lack of high quality players. Having only a hand full of good players in the entire league isnt going to cut it.

I would love for soccer to become popular in the US. I was in england for the world cup and it was amazing. Then back in the U.S. it was just like, "what, the world cup is on?" Me and all my friends watched almost every single game, but the majority of people still dont care. And it was just awesome to be in a place that was world cup crazed.

I read that he wants to got chelsea or real madrid...so perhaps he wil be moving to the premiership soon but i hope he dont go real madrid
