Looks like we're up to 13 official teams, so I think I'll keep sign-ups open through the weekend hoping to get several more, then we'll start play Monday or Tuesday.

Those that still have ?? for team members try to round up those players by then...I'll send out requests for event lineups tonight.

We would like to join this tournament as well:

CDLTexan
Covert 63
Andir
Plankeye

We would like to play as Texas though and I will be the team captain.

Texas replaces Auburn on the list...now up to 14 teams. I've run quite a few sports tourneys in the past, and it's exciting to see some new faces joining up here...should be fun.

Almost ready to roll...

Stanford is looking for one individual
Virginia Tech needs two individuals
Also, room for one more team (Arkansas, or whoever you want to rep)?

I'll give it until Monday night/Tuesday morning, then I'll reshuffle things as needed to make it work, but would like to see everyone get a chance to play.

gotcha vcvcb2...SNARF is added to the list...Stanford is filled up...just need one more for Virginia Tech and we'll be ready to go with 15 teams...still time to add more, but only four-person blocks for now.

Also, I'll take individuals for a reserves list.

Privileges have been granted, so we just need one more player for Virginia Tech and event lineups from captains and we'll be ready to start.

Plash Ricrem and Ducks in a Row Publishing proudly present: The 2009 Oregon Track Team Media Guide! (featuring all the info you wanted to know and then some about the Oregon Track team)

Flexmaster33 (Captain)

Hometown: Portland, OR
Rank: Lieutenant
Score: 1620
Events: 1,500m, Pole Vault, Javelin, Triple Jump, Relays

What drew you to race for Oregon?
I'm a native Oregonian and love track and field. Proud to say Eugene is Track City, USA, so I wanted to uphold that long tradition.

What events do you think will be your strongest (I suppose you can wait to answer this one once Flex has everything figured out)?
The Triple Jump...I'm solid at all three maps and usually play well under a different scoring system such as is being used in the field events. Any doubters...just check my nickname.

Do you have a nickname you wish to be known to the Oregon faithful as?
The Mad Hopper

If you were a prime number, what number would you be?
Easy...3...my lucky number.

If you could duel one historical figure to the death, whom would it be, why? And what would your weapon of choice be?
Hitler...because he shouldn't have been allowed to take himself out quickly. I'd use a colony of stinging army ants.

Is there anything redeeming about living in the pacific northwest?
Beautiful lakes, mountains and coast line, along with one of the best cities in the country. I love this area.

In a battle royal, which Portland would come out on top, Portland, Oregon, or Portland Maine?
Portland, OR would win in a landslide. We have lumberjacks who know how to use an ax. What's Portland, Maine coming to the fight with...a bunch of lobsters??? If we don't get the job done with the ax, we'll bury you under an avalanche on Mt. Hood.

Who's my favorite Trailblazer?
All-time I have to go with Clyde "The Glide" Drexler...on the current crop it's LaMarcus Aldridge

Vykingsfan64

Home Town: Minnesota
Rank: Sergeant 1st Class
Score: 1488
Events: 100m, 5,000m, High Jump, Javelin, Relays

What drew you to race for Oregon? Oregon was the only school to recruit me.

What events do you think will be your strongest? The 100m

Do you have a nickname you wish to be known to the Oregon faithful as? Waddles

If you were a prime number, what number would you be? 13

If you could duel one historical figure to the death, whom would it be, why? And what would your weapon of choice be? I would beat Colonel Mustard with a candlestick in the conservatory. The reason, I have always been jealous of his mustache.

Is there anyone you know who refers to soda as soda and not as pop? Other than me? No not really.

What is the most interesting historical fact you can provide about Minnesota? The Metrodome is the only facility in the country to host a Super Bowl, a World Series and a NCAA Final Four Basketball Championship

Denominator-
Home Town: Calgary, Alberta
Rank: Sargent
Score: 1346
Events: 100m, 400m, 1500m, High Jump, Relays

What drew you to race for Oregon?

It was the cheapest school I got accepted into.

What events do you think will be your strongest (I suppose you can wait to answer this one once Flex has everything figured out)?

The small maps. I pwn Doodle Earth.

Do you have a nickname you wish to be known to the Oregon faithful as?

Not really. In my experience, if you pick a nickname for yourself the fans just adapt it and make it worse. It's much better to just let them nickname you in their own fashion.

If you were a prime number, what number would you be?

2. It's the lowest prime number, and thus, the lowest common denominator.

If you could duel one historical figure to the death, whom would it be, why? And what would your weapon of choice be?

Chuck Norris, with my fists. Just because anyone who actually fights Chuck Norris gets cool points for life, even though they are guaranteed to lose.

According to your profile, you live in Alberta. Which former Canadian Prime Minister do you fancy yourself resembling the most?

Sir Charles Tupper. Just look at those mutton chops:

Image

Nothing says manly like a good set of mutton chops.

Which position on a curling do you usually take?

I tend to play Third, because it's the least boring position while still avoiding all the blame. You get to sweep 4 rocks, which is good exercise, then throw your two, and then pretend to be skip for the final two.

Unless your skip is Randy Furbey, who's a pansy and has his third throw the final rocks.

Are the prairie skies of Canada really as vast as they are made out to be?

Yeah. That's why nobody lives in Saskatchewan. The skies will literally drive you crazy. At least here in Alberta, we only have to drive 40 minutes to the mountains and sanity.

Plash Ricrem

Hometown (most of the year):Burlington, Vermont
Rank: Seargent First Class
Score: 1579
Events: 400m, 5,000m, Triple Jump, Javelin, Relays

What drew you to race for Oregon?
I was originally recruited by Vermont and was looking forward to racing for them, until I was kicked off of the team as a result of a drug test. I actually passed mine, but luckily Oregon was willing to over look my test results and offered me a spot.

What events are you looking forward to partaking in?
Probably the 5,000 and the Triple Jump.

Do you have a nickname you wish to be known to the Oregon faithful as?
If I were a sprinter I'd have gone with something like Plash the flash, but being a distance man at heart I'd have to go with something that articulates my dogged determination, not sure what that is though.

If you were a prime number, what number would you be?
11. Because its twice as good as 1.

If you could duel one historical figure to the death, whom would it be, why? And what would your weapon of choice be? I'd battle Mustafa Kemal Ataturk simply because although I harbor no ill will towards the man, he was pretty badass and I think we could have an entertaining brawl. We'd duel with rusty sporks at dawn on top of Mt. Mansfield.

What is your stance on hippies, as they are often seen as prevalent in the state of Vermont? I hate hippies with the passion of 1,000 fiery suns. Perhaps after our duel Ataturk and I would join forces and run all the hippies of Burlington into the depths of Lake Champlain.

What's your favorite Ben and Jerry's ice cream flavor?

Probably Peanut Butter Cookie Dough, which I've only ever found at the Ben & Jerry's located in the UVM student center. As far as commercially available flavors go, Cherry Garcia and Phish Food are pretty solid.

On another note...poor Arkansas. They look so lonely.

Arkansas has been put on NCAA probation for soliciting prostitutes at their downtown hotel, so the Razorbacks have been banned from competition. Their coach skipped town before the media circus converged, so no comment at the moment for the wild hogs.

Looks like we're set with 15 teams, so I'll adjust brackets an such accordingly and get us started.

I've only received 4-5 lineups so far, so captains need to get those into me by Wednesday night or I'll just jump in and set random lineups for the remaining teams.

We'll be starting play Thursday morning.

I've posted an event schedule at the front of the thread...this just gives a general idea of the order when events will go out.
