If I'm no a deserted island, maybe I want children to "repopulate." I'll go with reverse mermaid for pure procreation, regular mermaid for everything else.

But seriously, imagine what the offspring would look like. And then imagine 4 generations of inbreeding.
Dying out may be the better option.

How would the DNA work there? Is there a chance the children could be all-fish or all-human? And, if all fish, wouldn't Troy McClure be after them?

At least the reverse can go for long walks on the beach. Romantic.

I think I'd rather snorkel.

Re: Something has been bothering me for a while now
ah, guys, you're going about this all wrong. Well, partly wrong.
I mean, you really need to consider what type of fish head or tail you're talking about.
Like, what if it's a snapper head? All of you who're into that orifice might find it's the last time you're able to enter any orifice (SHARP teeth!). A sheepshead, aka oystercracker, might cost you in terms of being able to reproduce after its done cracking your oysters. Then again, if you're into pain, you might like some of those options.
For the tail, what if it's a ramorra? A worse case of rugburn, you'll never find.
