I'm going to try out a new game for all those scientists/philosophers/cynics out there. You just post some sort of law or postulate or theorem or rule with the link to what it is (wikipedia acceptable). It can be from math, physics, psychology, economics, popular culture, etc.
I'll start with an easy one.
Murphy's Law

Is this a game... or a collection of links?
If it's merely a collection of links:
Transcendental Idealism

Call it an education of the masses. And it has to be a law. Your link is a bit too broad I'm afraid.

In the UK, this rule has usually been called "Sod's Law".
It is of course taken very seriously.
