When I first saw this, a few years ago, I just stared at her nipples.
I wanted everyone to know that.

You have to apreciate God's involvement in all this.

... Seems random. Twice clockwise, once counter... once clockwise, four times counter...
... Very strange, but cool.

I've always loved that illusion, and when I first saw it I couldn't really believe it.
I can make her switch directions at will only by staring at the plant foot. That is easy for me to reverse and when I look back up the whole dancer has reversed - reversing the actually body at will is very difficult for me.
Started off clockwise for what it is worth.

Most people start off clockwise- out of interest I started the poll, but it seems like some people start anti-clockwise.
It's easier to switch if you bring your hand in front of the head too.

I could only switch because I had seen it before... at first I couldn't get it to reverse... until I tried the foot trick.

Started clock-wise, and I learned that when she gets to pi/2 and 3pi/4, if you pretend that she's actually facing the opposite direction, she changed direction.
Then, I made it so that she was literally bouncing back from 0 to pi/2 to pi to pi/2 to 0 and then back again and such. It was pretty intense.

Yeah- when you get to the point where she's just going and back and forth without turning around, it's pretty weird, especially if you lose concentration and she starts spinning again.

It's all in the way you look at her outward leg. If you look at it as going behind her plant leg, it's CCW, and vice-versa. Very cool.

I blame Faraday's Law.
