Up until recently we had two web servers with a load balancer to split the traffic between them. Since the faster server is now able to handle everything on its own, not much traffic was going to the slower one. So we got rid of the load balancer and now the main website is running entirely on the faster server. We still have the slower server around taking care of email, live chat, the developement site and a few other things.
We experienced some slowdowns on last Thurdsday and this Monday as a result of experiements gone wrong. I'd like to apologize for that - we should have made an announcement once we realized something was wrong. The good news is we learned what not to do from those experiements and the server situation should be very good for a long time to come
