Bracket Map

Post by notkin »

What about a bracket as a map? I wont make a rough draft right now cause you should all know what a bracket looks like.

One game would be two territories, one for each team. You wouldnt be able to attack a different round unless you owned the whole game.

A round for one division (St Louis' round 1 in this years March Madness for example) would be a bonus if there are bonuses at all and so round 1 would be the most armies, then round 2, round 3, etc. because they have more territorries.

If you could find a way to make the middle territories neutral and find room for season games then you might have something. I would suggest having bonuses according to the amount of playoff spots you hold and when you get past the superbowl slots you could get an extra bonus and have to prevent each team from gaining more ground...

It kind of reminds me of capture the flag battling from one side to the other like that and that would probably be more appealing than this. Who knows if you did a good job I'd play it when I'm feining for football!!!

I think the game play would be interesting. Though, it would lead to having all of your army pooled in one territory for the majority of the game. Also this would leave very few strategies to completion. Move from the starting point to the center, once in the center split your troops in half 1 half defending your bracket and the other to invade another bracket, once that is completed, repeat for the other brackets. Every game would feel the same.

There would have to be something more then just the brackets. If there were ways of moving between brackets at the back then it would be much more appealing. Maybe make it a one way map. When you are in the bracket territories you can only attack towards the center but from other territories (center territory, the bask ways into the brackets) you can go any direction

Graphically I don’t think I would enjoy this at all though. It’s hard to get enthused about looking at a bracket. Now if you make a map with this type of gameplay on the background of a map of some kind then I might like it more.

Actually thinking about this it could be fun. it doesn't really sound like what you were originally describing but, If yah would like help doing this I'll give you a hand or If you don't want to use this idea i think I will for my own map.

i wasnt thinking that you would just start on the outside, i think that would be very boring, but rather the game starts with every territory owned
