Help with my hair.
Well I have long hair, and i've had it for a year and it passes my neck. I'm a boy so I don't know anything about hair products or any of that stuff, I just wash it. But recently people had told me that it looks sort of dry,and thick especially the back. So i'm wondering what is a good product, shampoo, conditioner, anything to help me with my situation. I would also like to know WHERE to buy the products you mention. Thanks for your time and help.

My wife worked in the industry. The stuff in the drug stores and supermarkets is mostly crap. Buy a good shampoo and conditioner at a hair salon, men's or women's, however, it is expensive but you only need a little at a time so it lasts long. Goldwell is one good kind. Don.t scrub it with a towel to get it dry, just try to pat the water out of it with a towel and comb.

I had long hair for many years.
Most likely, you are washing it too often. You don't want to wash long hair everyday. Beautician friends used to tell me to go a week. If you get it dirty, try just rinsing it in between shampoos (of course, not suggesting you let it get gross.. I am saying that it generally won't be "gross" if you wait a bit to wash it). Different shampoos work for different people, but look for something gentle. Some people use baby shampoo or castile soap. Then use a decent conditioner. You can go to beauty shops and get all kinds of products, but they tend to be pricey. A lot of folks swear by Mayonaise (real mayonaise, not miracle whip or such). You leave it on a few minutes, then wash it off. I have heard the same for avocado. My mom used to rinse my hair with a little vinegar and waer when I was younger, but I think that was to better rinse off the soap (not sure).
As to where? I bought mine at the local grocery store or discount pharmacy. You can go to beauty shops, but they tend to be pricey. Might be worth going for a consult, if you have the funds to do it. In bigger cities you can go to beauty supply shops (not the wholesale ones, I mean retail shops).
Beyond that, does the hair "start" out shiney and then get duller or does it seem pretty dull coming out of your head? If its dry and dull throughout, you should look at your diet. Vegetariens particularly can have "bad hair" because they may not be getting enough natural oils in their diet. Missing certain nutrients can cause your hair to look dull (I cannot remember which ones right now, sorry). Doesn't hurt to check with your doctor, because far more rarely bad hair can indicate some serious problems. (unlikely, but why take the chance?)
PS, I have never heard of the brands mentioned above (but I have only lived in smaller towns and it might be regional products). I used to like Nexus and still sometimes use Michael.

Another thing about long hair, if you start seeing split ends
it's time for a trim.
