Well after a tournament is underway

Post by dyrtydog »

and a game is in its 50th round...

is it appropriate for the tournament director (who is not in the game) to all of a sudden and come in an announce the rules are being changed>

I suspect that if those rules were up front then the game would not have been played the way it was;

I am asking before I complain and name a certain tournament director, tournament, and particular game.

depends on what was stated in his/her rules--then it depends on the impact of the change--is it fair?
We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, therefore, is not an act but a habit.

You mean Tournament Organizer, not Director. :D

If he posted he deserves the right to make changes, he can. Nevertheless it would have been fair if he announces that in round 40 for round 50, for example, so you all have 10 rounds to adapt. Maybe he can make the new rule effective in round 60?

Lx

[EDIT] I also see he rescued the tournament. There was obviously a reason why it was abandoned and it's not uncommon for rescuers to change the rules a bit to get a better flow of the rescued tournament.

[EDIT2] I now see he posted in the game chat (but not in the tournament thread). He is setting the round cap for round 75, which I think is very fair.
