I'm curious, you list seeds for the national tournament as 1-22, but if I count the total number of teams that advance I count 32. Where am I going wrong? How many advance to the national tuornament!

@ AA...the 10 conference champions automatically advance to Nationals and get a first-round bye. I think that's the missing #s you're looking at.

Ah ha...here's how it is I think aa...
think of it this way It's a 16-person National bracket...the 10 conference champs automatically get in, while the 12 other qualifiers have a wrestle-in match to decide the other six spots in the bracket.

If my math is right (and if it isn't please let me know) 34 people will advance from the conference tournaments. The 10 conference champs go straight to the top 10 seeds of the national tournaments.
The remain 24 players that will be paired up and the 12 winners will get the 11th-22nd seeds while the 12 losers will be out.
That leaves 22 players in hte national tourney plus 10 byes to complete the 32 man bracket.
