Joining your own tourney...

Post by x-raider »

What is the generally accepted attitude towards joining / not joining your own tourney?

do not join if you are privy to sensitive information.

an example is special targets or goals for players that you create/assign.

Pretty much agree. You can join almost all of your tournaments, no problem.

I personally prefer not to play in my own tournaments. Once in a while I've jumped in as a reserve or due to some other special circumstance, but generally I try not to.

Even if a tournament seems really straightforward, circumstances arise where an organiser has to make a judgement call, and I don't want to put myself in a potential conflict of interest.

Still, I must admit I'm very much in the minority here. I'd say as a rough estimate 75% or maybe even 80% of organisers play in their own tournies.

In my Boss Boss tournaments, I played in 75% of the games ;) although I wasn't actually a contender...

i also never play in mine.

other than a reserve spot here and there thas has no real bearing on the tourney.

i'd just rather stay out of the potential drama that can arise.
