Welcome to my "1 vs 1 Random Map" tournament.
I am designing the tournament somewhat along the lines of the 1917-18 professional ice hockey season pitting the NHL vs PCHA (National Hockey league and Pacific Coast Hockey Association) for the right to hoist Lord Stanley's mug and to claim bragging rights as ice hockey's premier team.
I have added teams that played in previous and subsequent seasons to round out a tourney of 16 teams because the 17-18 season ended up only with 7 actual teams in both leagues due to arenas burning down and owners going bankrupt.
Settings:
unlimited, foggy, sequential, no trench, escalating, 20 round limit.
Random maps throughout.
PREMIUMS only as players will have 8 games going simultaneously in round robin portion of league games. 7 games going simulataneously during second half season.
Two leagues: NHL and PCHA with the league champs playing for the Stanley Cup. The two leagues won't play each other during round robin regular season. 8 teams in each league.
Regular season:
First half of season: 8 team round robin within league with First-half champ having a bye through to the playoffs.
Second half of season: First-half champ has a bye. Remaining 7 teams engage in round robin to determine 2nd half champ.
League standings:
2 points for a win. No ties or draws as all games in that season had overtime to decide outcomes. Head-to-head games between players to decide order of standings. If more than two teams tied for first place in either 1st or 2nd half - will tabulate which player had most wins amongst teams tied for first place in league standings to determine the 1st or 2nd half 'champion' with 'head to head' within this group, again, the ultimate decider. The final tie-breaker will have to be fewest rounds played during seasonal games.
Playoffs:
League first-half and second-half champs battle it out in best of 5 playoff.
