[spoiler=original post]We all know that it's not very likely that the world will end just because the Mayan astronomers ran out of numbers. Still, it would be fun! I mean, civilization has gotten pretty stale and predictable, hasn't it? Wouldn't it be nice to be the one who gets to say when and how humanity will bite the biscuit? Win this tournament and you'll get the right to do just that! Well, according to us, anyway -- we make no warranty that anyone else will honour it!

Settings:
All games will be Automatic, Sequential, Escalating, Chained, No Trench, 50-round limit.
Team games (Phases 4 and 5) will be Foggy and all non-team games (Phases 1, 2 and 3) will be Sunny.
[spoiler=tournament flow]Tournament Flow:
Phase 1: The 12 players in each Scenario will be seeded by rank. There will be two 6-player Assassin games -- one for the high ranks and one for the low ranks. The winner of each game gets to skip Phase 2 and proceeds directly to Phase 3. The victim of the assassination is eliminated from the tournament, unless the game was won by someone assassinating the wrong target, in which case the offender will be eliminated.
Phase 2A: The eight remaining players will be randomly assigned a single 1v1 game within their group. The four winners will advance to Phase 3, the four losers will get another chance in Phase 2B.
Phase 2B: The four remaining players will be randomly assigned to a best-of-3 series of 1v1 games within their group. The two winners will advance to Phase 3, the two losers will be eliminated from the tournament.
Phase 3: Intergroup play will now begin, in 6-player Terminator games. Each surviving player will host one game on his home map and play in 11 away games on the other scenario maps. To prevent excessive game load, Phase 3 games will be created over a period of about 8 weeks, so you will usually get 2 games at a time, about 8 to 10 days apart. You will score 1 point for each kill plus 1 point for each win during this phase. In addition, we will also scout your profiles during this phase, and you will get 2 bonus points if we see your group badge incorporated into your signature or avatar. We cannot guarantee which day we will visit your profile, so to be sure you must keep your group badge up during the entire time of Phase 3 from the day you get your first invite to the day your 12th Phase 3 game ends.
After Phase 3 the eight groups with the fewest total points will be eliminated, and their Doomsday scenario deemed insufficiently dangerous. Four groups of eight players will remain. In each group, the player who brought home the most points in Phase 3 will be declared the group's MVP and receive a GA medal!
Your Phase 3 score will also impact Phases 4 and 5 in other ways, so all in all it is an extremely important phase!
Phase 4: Each group will now divide into two Quads teams. The MVP will be the captain of the A team and the highest-ranking player who is not the MVP will be the captain of the B team. The two captains will choose their teams in alternating schoolyard fashion. PMs will be sent with greater detail once Phase 4 has begun. Delaying a scheduled pick by more than 24 hours will result in a forfeit of your choice and have a random player assigned to your team.
Once the teams are chosen, they will play a best-of-three series on their group's map for the right to represent their group in the finals.
Phase 5A: The four surviving groups and the Quads teams that have emerged from them will be placed in a four team bracket. The team who collectively scored the most points in Phase 3 will get a special bonus: they will decide which team they want to face first, and thus define the bracket for all four.
Each match in the bracket will be five games: two on each team's home map, plus one map randomly chosen from among the maps of the eight groups that have been eliminated.
Phase 5B: The winners of the matches in 5A will face off for the final right to destroy the world, and some more medals! And that's that![/spoiler]
