Premier League Darts 2013 [Abandoned]
New Thread: viewtopic.php?f=90&t=194148
I would like to start a tournament based on the Premier League Darts 2013 season. All games will be 2-player and the tournament features all the maps about the UK.
The real Darts Premier League only has 10 players but I would like to have 20 players in 2 separate divisions, with the top players from each division meeting in the play-offs at the end of the tournament.
These are the settings:
Number of entrants: 20
Maps: England (9 matches each), Scotland (2 matches), Ireland (2 matches), Wales (1 match), London (2 matches) and British Isles (3 matches)
Game Type: 2-player games
Play Order: Sequential
Troop Deployment: Automatic
Spoils: Escalating
Reinforcements: Chained
Special Gameplay: No Fog of War and No Trench
Round Limit: 20 Rounds
There are no point restrictions but players need to have premium membership because they will play up to 7 games at a time. I have introduced a 20 Round limit on the games so that players don't get bogged down with too many games.
Everyone will have 48 hours to join their games.
Here is the format of the tournament:
There will be 2 divisions each with 10 players; 1 division for players from the USA and Canada and 1 division for players from the Rest of the World. This is for games to be played quicker as you're more likely to be playing against opponents from a similar time zone.
The main season has 16 weeks, each taking place at a different venue around the UK. The map for the week will be based on the location of the venue. Everyone will play 1 match per week. There may be a pause occasionally to let matches finish.
During the main season each match is played as a Best of 12, or First to 7 wins, whichever happens first. So each match will begin with 7 games, then I will send out more depending on how close the player in the lead is to winning. For example, if after 7 games the score is 4-3, I will send out another 3 games etc. If you win a match, you get 2 points. If a match is tied at 6-6, both players get 1 point.
Everyone plays everyone else in their division once (9 matches total). At this point the bottom 2 players in each division are eliminated.
Then everyone plays everyone else in their division again (7 matches). Scores are added onto the results from the previous 9 matches. The top 4 players from each division will go through to the play-offs.
We are left with 8 players, so the quarter finals will be played as a best of 15, the semi finals will be best of 17 and the Final will be best of 19.
Order of Maps:
Week 1: Ireland
Week 2: Scotland
Week 3: England
Week 4: England
Week 5: England
Week 6: England
Week 7: Wales
Week 8: Scotland
Week 9: England
---Bottom 2 players in each division are eliminated---
Week 10: England
Week 11: Ireland
Week 12: England
Week 13: England
Week 14: England
Week 15: London
Week 16: London
---Top 4 players in each division go through to the play-offs---
Week 17 (Quarter Finals): British Isles
Week 18 (Semi Finals): British Isles
Week 19 (Final): British Isles
I hope all of this is clear! Please ask if you have any questions.

Re: Premier League Darts 2013 [10/20]
Galex, this is awesome. I love the darts: watching fat, incredibly unattractive men cheered on by a raucous, and usually very drunk, crowd. Terrific stuff.
I'm in for the rest of the world. Can we have names? I'd love to be Phil 'The Power" Taylor, but as I'm from Aus, perhaps Simon 'the Wizard of Oz' Whitlock?
da-da-da-da-da da-da-da-da da-da-da-da ay! ay! ay! (singing with pint in hand and arms waving about)

Love this post. You can have names if you like but I doubt many of our American friends will know enough about darts...

In please - USA - if still room.
And Leighton Rees would be an awesome name (some yanks do get it - and I played a VERY brief match against him in the Colorado Open in 82 or 83).
