This is the second tournament in my new series based on my original homeland -- Czechoslovakia -- and [player]Oneyed[/player]'s excellent map of it. Each of the 25 tournaments in this series will celebrate some aspect of a different town or city on the map. To avoid favouritism, I have randomized the order of the towns. This tournament is based on the town of Olomouc. In the town square stands the Holy Trinity Column. According to the wikipedia article:
The Holy Trinity Column in Olomouc is a Baroque monument in the Czech Republic, built in 1716–1754 in honour of God. The main purpose was a spectacular celebration of Catholic Church and faith, partly caused by feeling of gratitude for ending a plague, which struck Moravia (now in the Czech Republic) between 1714 and 1716. The column was also understood to be an expression of local patriotism, since all artists and master craftsmen working on this monument were Olomouc citizens, and almost all depicted saints were connected with the city of Olomouc in some way.
As it happened, the town was blessed to have a thriving artistic community, and many local sculptors and other artists participated in erecting a remarkable and spectacular magnum opus. Today, it is honoured as a UNESCO World Heritage site because it is "one of the most exceptional examples of the apogee of central European Baroque artistic expression".

Naturally, the Holy Trinity Column suggested Triples play to me, and originally I intended to use traditional team triples for this tournament. Then, however, Polymorphic games were introduced and became wildly popular, and it was with some delight that I realized that Polymorphic Triples encapsulate the idea of the Trinity (three aspects of one God) even better than traditional team Triples do! So, here we go.
Participants: 24 players, premium-only
Tournament Flow: A Swiss-style tournament consisting of nine rounds of Polymorphic Triples play.
(One game per round)
The first round will be randomly seeded; thereafter games will be set by Challonge.com using the Swiss-style option.
Settings: All games will be sequential, automatic, chained, with 24-hour rounds and a 30-round limit. Games that go to the round limit will be considered ties for Swiss purposes.
