I would like to gauge interest with this before actually drawing up something officially.
So as some of you know, I run pretty extensive tournaments. It feels like some of my first few are endless, with some quick 16 participants tourneys passing them up and finishing before the other tournaments are done with round 1!
I know that it is your choice on what tournament you run, but honestly- I don't feel I should be getting the same "rewards" for my insane, suicidal efforts. With 32 player single elimination, you have a little over 30 games over the course of the tourney. In some of my tournaments now, I've had more than that in the first round. One tournament I'm holding now is expected to reach way over 3,000 UNIQUE GAMES, possibly even 5K (I don't want to bother with math that high) That's right folks, 3 Thousand to 5 thousand. It will hit 1 thousand by round 4.
Now wait a minute... 3000+, 30+... What is going on here? How is it fair that they get the same recognition?
So here is my proposal: a secondary medal will be created for "extraordinary tournament contribution". We can have applications upon tournament start to receive it with the completion of the tournament, and those can be approved/rejected. The standards can be discussed later in this thread. But it would be fair to keep in mind that 1v1 is not the same as 12 player games, so standards would need to be different.
A Tournament besides mine that would qualify for this (only one I can think of ATM) is Kenny777's and hopalong's Terminator Escalating 219 or bust. I think they will end up near 500 6 player games, not totally sure on that.
So please, discuss, and give some good feedback. I've got a poll up, so be sure to vote as we'll.
I just want to note- this is a possibility I've been toying with in my head for a while. I personally don't care either way this goes, I run tournaments for community benefit, not for shiny medals (or else I would do the 16 player SE a lot). I just want to be fair for others who do these extreme tournaments as well (if they exist, maybe there is a reason they don't...)

Re: Tournament Medals Categorization
CC doesn't hand out special medals because the winner defeated 127 other players, they get the same as someone defeating 15 others. CC doesn't hand out special clan medals because it was a 200 game war instead of the usual 61. CC doesn't hand out special medals to mods because they locked 10 times the threads of the other mods or was in Live Chat more than anyone else.
more games does not equal more special. if you want to make your players jump through hoops for 12 months instead of 3 months before declaring a winner, that's your prerogative but at the end of the day year you have run 1 tournament.

I'll try to address all of this...
"Special medal for winning big tourneys"- That could be arranged as part of this, seems like a logical extension.
"Special Clan medal"- You're right. I'm not 100% sure on the way clan wars are set up, so I'll let someone official from there speak for themselves. However, you have more help in the clan world than in the tournament world. Both sides will have at least one person making games, and I'm sure for 200+ games there will be multiple reps per side. I'm not sure whether or not 200 would even qualify for this though...
"Volunteer Medals"- What the heck. This has nothing to do with anything. Some special volunteers have gotten special titles though, like BGTheBrain and Gilligan (or he used to), so this point becomes even more irrelevant...
Of course more games doesn't mean more special. It just means hours more work and commitment, more trying to find replacements, and more pain in making the games.
I'm sorry you don't agree with this greenoaks... Maybe you should run a few 200+ game tourneys sometime and see how challenging it all is?

don't my 40 completed Best At Betas with 360 games each count? what about the 2010 Football Season with 805 games, 562 game BeNeLux Crack, 553 game Doodle Crack, 260 game CDL's Amazing Race, 285 game Christmas Random League or the 600 game Willy's All-American 1v1 League?
what about my 2013 Age Of Realms League that is at 300 games and about halfway? the 3 Best At Betas currently running, my USA At War with 432 games and only round 3 or The Amazing Race 2013 on 396 games and halfway through round 4 of 17, i suppose they don't count either?
your tournament isn't special. you don't deserve a special medal for it.
