Thanks TeeGee:
My house shook and moved like a ship on the oceans. It's not like in the movies at all.
I thought that my house was literally going to break apart.

there was actually one here near Naples Italy a couple of weeks ago... luckily it was north of us, otherwise Vesuvius would probably be an issue...

The thing is that yesterday there was also a meteor shower. I am wondering if the two events are not somehow related. May be, that the Meteor shower were the Catalyst for the Earthquake, yesterday/this morning?

Yeah they are pretty horrible experiences.
I live/work on a major fault line so we get decent shakes every now and then, but last year had a couple of very nearby (with earthquakes depth and distance from epicentre is as important as the magnitude number) 6.6's. I always thought I was pretty resilent/tough up until then, but something like a major earthquake has a strange impact on ones psyche; I think it has to do with it being so out of everyones control. Either way it wasnt much fun.

Re: Did anyone feel the Earth quake, today?
I've felt a couple of small earthquakes in Peru, first one I was on the 15th flower when the building started to move... didn't like my odds if it collapsed. Stopped after maybe 10-15 seconds and all was left standing. Turned out to be a bigger quake further south that did do quite a lot of damage.
Ireland's weather might be among the worst in the world as far as year round temperature/rainfall goes but at least there's no hurricanes, earthquakes, stupidly cold temperatures or anything else that kills people.

Question Viceroy. Did the earth experience more earthquakes before 6000 years ago or are earthquakes only occurring in the last 6000 years?

Oh yah, it's a humbling experience.
It is a humbling experience that's for sure. You took the words right out of my mouth.
The thing is that when you see an earthquake on TV, it's all some kind of a violent, shaky motion. I guess it's because, to simulate an earthquake, all they can really do is to shake the Camera. But the truth is that the earth reacts very much like an ocean does where waves of dirt are pounding into your house and you feel the earth move up and down as well as the wave of earth moves through your area. They never show the up and down motion on TV. Or maybe it depends on how close you are to the epicenter?
And for those who don't understand, Waves are not actually moving. Waves are Oscillations and the water stays in it's general area. The earth acts the same way. The motion is not just side to side but also up and down just like water waves.
My house is still standing but the waves crashing into my house, cracked the concrete foundation all to hell.
That's life I guess. My life for a Cracked Foundation. Good Trade!
