There are four Major tournaments, twelve Premier tournaments, and twenty Standard tournaments - 36 in total.
There will also be an All-Star Event that will be held over the Winter Break in between Sets 2 and 3.
The four major events are the Grand Slam events of the TPA5 and as such, all serious contenders should join them. Each of these will count for your scores.
Of the Premier events, your best 8 scores of the 12 Premier events will count on the TPA5 scoreboard. You may enter more or less but only the top 8 scores will count.
Finally, your best 12 Standard (of 20) tournament scores will count on the TPA5 scoreboard.
Thus, there are a maximum of 24 tournaments counting on your TPA5 scoreboard.
The overall format for the All-Star Event has been decided, but there are still several details to be hammered out.
The All-Star Event will consist of a main event, a series of skills competitions, and a fan event.
Main All-Star Event
The Main All-Star Event will consist of a mini-tournament for 48 players.
This mini-tournament will consist of 19 games (1 for each tournament, with the exception of the Federation Internationale de Ski).
The map, settings, and scoring system for each game will be based on one of the tournaments in Sets 1 & 2 of the TPA5 season - details can be found in this post.
The players to participate in this event will be chosen as follows:- Voting for the All-Star Event will be done by ballot.
- Any player who has participated or is participating in a Set 1 or Set 2 TPA5 tournament from which he has not been removed for deadbeating will be on the ballot. (NOTE: If a player is participating in 2 TPA5 tournaments, but has been removed from 1 for deadbeating, he will still be on the ballot)
- Ballots will be sent to:
- Each Tournament Director
- Each member of the Tournament Organizers usergroup
- The TO of each TPA5 tournament
- The top 10 players in each prior TPA season as of the date the ballots are sent out.
- Each player will be allowed to submit only one ballot - even those who belong to more than one of the above listed groups.
- Voters will vote by assigning points to players.
- Each voter will have 200 points to assign, and may assign no more than 5 points to any one player.
- Voters may not assign points to themselves or add names to the ballot.
- The 48 players who receive the most points will be named TPA5 All-Stars, and will participate in the Main All-Star Event.
- Those players who are named All-Stars may receive something to designate them - a special signature, perhaps
Skills Competitions- The Skills Competitions will be open to all players who are participating in a TPA5 tournament.
- All eligible players will be given instructions on how to sign up.
- The Skills Competitions will consist of specific tasks to be completed in games set up for the purpose.
- Events will include the Stacking Competition (where players compete to build the biggest stacks in a game with a 20-round limit), the Sweeping Competition (where players attempt to sweep the board - kill all opponents in the same turn - in the fewest rounds of a Standard or Terminator game), the Passing Competition (where Quads teams attempt to pass a stack from one end of a map to the other in the fewest rounds), the Objective Competition (where players attempt to win games by achieving their respective objectives on the Pirates and Merchants map), and the Casual Speed Competition (where players attempt to win assassin games on the Doodle Earth Map in as few rounds as possible).
- There will also be a Junior Tier, open only to TPA5 participants who joined CC 1 year or less before the start of the TPA season or only to TPA5 participants with scores below 1400, and a Legends Tier, open only to TPA5 participants at or above the rank of Colonel.
- Individual prizes may be offered.
- Players competing in these events will earn points for the TPA5 tournaments they are participating in. (NOTE: If a player is participating in 2 TPA5 tournaments, but has been removed from 1 for deadbeating, he will only earn points for the tournament he has NOT been removed from.)
- The tournament with the most points at the end of the Skills Competition may receive an additional GA Medal for the TO to award as he sees fit (criteria for additional GA Medal still subject to approval by TDs).
- The player who earns the most points for his tournaments may receive an additional prize.
Skills Competition sign-ups, scores, and tournament points can be found in this spreadsheet.
Fan Event
This event will be open only to players who are NOT participating in any TPA5 tournament.
Information on the Fan Event can be found in this thread.
We are trying to ensure diversity in tournaments, so we will try to make sure that we have a variety of tournament types - and that they are spread out a bit more evenly than last year. We are striving for, per set, no fewer than 1 and no more than 3 of each of the following:
- Mixed
Quads
Trips
Doubles
Polymorphic
Assassin
Terminator
1v1
Standard (3+ players per game)
Random Map
Major Tournaments must require the winning player or team to have a minimum of 100 games in a league type tournament or 100 planned player eliminations in an individual elimination type tournament i.e. 100 individual games; 50 doubles games etc.
Premier tournaments have between 51 and 99 planned games/player eliminations.
Standard tournaments have between 30 and 50 planned games/player eliminations.
Should any tournament not meet the planned number of players joining it, we will either reclassify it or allow it to run as was originally planned. The CC player minimum number restrictions must always be met of course.

Major tournaments will have 2,000 points for 1st place; Premier, 1,000 points and Standard, 500 points.
For all other places, the number of points earned (P) will be determined by the following formula which includes the number of players/teams (n) and the player's position (x). Points will be rounded down.
For Major tournaments
If n>128: P = 2000n/128x
If n<128 or n=128: 2000/x
For Premier tournaments
If n>64: P = 1000n/64x
If n<64 or n=64: 1000/x
For Standard tournaments
If n>32: P = 500n/32x
If n<32 or n=32: 500/x
If players are tied then they will each receive the average of the total number of points they would have received had they not tied.
On completion of their tournament, organizers should just provide the finishing order and the above points will be calculated as part of the master scoreboard updating.

To be sanctioned as a TPA event, tournaments must:
- Follow all CC tournament requirements;
- Have no point restrictions (although they may require premium membership);
- Have an organizer who has successfully run previous CC tournaments, is committed to running this one through and has not been replaced as a TO for any tournament during the preceding 12 months;
- Allow for at least 32 single players, 16 doubles teams, or 8 larger teams.
- TO agrees not to send to any sort of "list" for the first 48 hours of sign ups to allow all players fair entry;
- TO's agree that for all sanctioned events that players will be accepted in the order in which they sign up regardless of all banned lists that a particular TO may have.
- TO's agree not to publish their tournament before before the date specified, which will always be a Monday.
To join any tournament, all players must sign up in the usual manner.
Players do not have to join all the tournaments, as only 24 of the 36 will count for scoring.

The tournament organizer and one winner (or individual players of the winning team) of any previous tournament of the same title may be included in the player joiner list. All other spots must be open for sign ups.
Reserve policies are at the discretion of the tournament organizer. Reserves will receive all final points due. Players who do not continue in a tournament will not receive any points.
