99's Stealthy Home & Away Dubs UNIQUE TOURNAMENT STRUCTURE I am only looking for 8 teams. This Tournament will be completed in two flights (stages). There won't be a 12 Hour Fog Courtesy rule due to the use of Home Maps, but please be respectful in this regard. Playoff matches consist of 5 games played at once, so you must be Premium to play, sorry. MATCH FORMAT show
FLIGHT 1 Each match will consist of 4 games. Two Home Maps for each team, that must be different and cannot include Beta. Flight 1 matches can end in a tie.FLIGHT 1 Tie-breaker These matches will consist of 3 games. For a fun twist, each team will pick one of their opponents maps to play and a random map will be added to ensure a winner.FLIGHT 2 Each match will consist of 5 games. Two Home Maps for each team, that must be different and cannot include Beta. A 5th Random game on Standard Settings, will be played, to ensure a match winner. Please indicate both of your Home Maps when you sign up.
SETTINGS show
Automatic and Sequential Stealthy = Foggy .......Duh! So fog is mandatory. No Trench. 20 Round Limit Random Games are Standard - Escalating and ChainedSpoils and Reinforcements are Player Choice. Please indicate your choices for each map, when you sign up.
MISSED INVITES RULE (NEW) show
PREAMBLE Players intentionally missing an invite and accepting the 2nd invite, while the other team is a 'sitting duck' , and then not providing the other team an opportunity to see the map is unacceptable in any of my tournaments. Many are unaware of what happens when a player misses an invite. Everyone else stays 'invited' and I just re-invite the player who missed. Many don't even realize that their opponent or teammate, missed his invite. The problem is that this player now has the exclusive opportunity to accept his new invite and then immediately take his first turn; should he happen to play first. This would most undoubtedly, make it extremely difficult if not impossible for their opponents to ever get a chance to see the opening map. That has to be construed as an advantage. RULE (because without them we no longer have a friendly game) I'm not imposing a penalty to a team in a friendly tournament, when someone innocently misses an invite or even two for that matter. Be clear though, there will be no advantage gained by missing said invite, whether it be innocent or otherwise. It is incumbent on the team missing the invite, that if you play first, you must do one of the following: A - Wait until your opponent gives you the "all clear". B - Make no successful attacks on the enemy in your opening turn. C - Provide your opponent with the information they could and would have seen if they viewed the original map. This is NOT limited to indicating what you attacked and where you attacked from. Your opponent needs to know what could be seen prior to the attack being made, i.e. "Prior to my turn you could see that Edmonton was Neutral and Ontario was Blue". PENALTY - The affected games will be forfeited. ERRORS AND OMISSIONS If it is determined after the fog lifts that a player erred in relaying the necessary information AND this error results in an advantage being received by the offending team, the affected games will be forfeited. NOTE: My intent isn't to be strict or to punish for honest mistakes but rather to ensure that no player receives any additional advantage when he starts the game first. I also want to remove any incentive for players to stall the acceptance of their invites. Any grey area here and I will be ruling in favor of offering a remedy any time an advantage is gained.
FLIGHT 1 (Details) show
We will play a shortened round robin using the Swiss format. It will consist of 5 rounds of play. Upon completion, 4 teams will be eliminated and 4 teams will advance to Flight 2, the playoffs. The top 4 teams will be seeded for Flight 2. This is very important, because Flight 2 uses the Page Playoff System, which provides the top 2 ranked teams a shorter route to the finals than the 3rd and 4th place team. During Flight 1, teams are awarded points for Match Wins, Match Ties and for each Game Win. Those points are tallied to provide a score for each team. Teams are then ranked by these scores and all subsequent matches in Flight 1 are determined under the Swiss System, by these scores. See Wiki for a detailed explanation: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swiss-system_tournament .Match Win = 5.5 Points Match Tie = 4.5 Points Game Win = 0.5 Points A schedule of matches will be provided in a spoiler below and if you scroll down there will be a table of team scores at the bottom. This preliminary round is designed to reward you for simply winning your home maps and for NOT losing your match. NOTE: You do not need to win your match to receive points for Game Wins.
FLIGHT 1 TIE-BREAKER RULES (Not Required) show
Players are ranked by score in Flight 1. Should there be a tie for any of the top 3 positions, it will be settled using the following criteria: 1 - Match wins versus tied opponents (head to head). 2 - Buchholz System - This is a complex system that was created for the purpose of settling ties in Swiss Tournaments. See link below.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buchholz_system 3 - Points DifferenceIMPORTANT NOTE: - No team can be eliminated from the competition using this tie-breaking format. If there is a tie for 4th place, a tie-breaker match or matches will be played.
FLIGHT 2 (Details) show
This Tournament is using the Page Playoff System , which is mainly used in Championship Curling. It's quite simple. Teams have been ranked after Flight 1 matches are completed. Team 1 and 2 play each other, with the winner advancing to the Final Match and the loser advancing to the Semi-Final Match. Team 3 and 4 play each other, with the winner advancing to the Semi-Final Match (against the loser of the 1-2 game), while the loser is eliminated. Then the Semi-Final is played, with the winner advancing to the Final. Wiki link:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Page_playoff_system

There is a beta map (France 2.1) that was used as a home map selection and I just noticed it now. So there will be one more change to the existing map choices and settings. This was my error in not picking it up earlier so I"ll give the team in question ample time to make their new selection. I don't anticipate any delay just the same.

Round 4 games of Flight 1 issued. Flight 1 ends after Round 5 and then 4 teams eliminated and we move on to Flight 2. Also, don't forget that your placement in the top 4 matters. The higher you place after Flight 1, the easier your road to the finals and ultimate champion.

The 2011 World Cup Map has been axed and will only be used during the World Cup event. I have asked Team 8 for a replacement. They may also change the settings as desired to suit the new map choice for them. All round 5 games have now been issued with the exception of a single game that is awaiting the substitution mentioned above. At the end of this round, 4 teams will be eliminated and 4 teams will be seeded for the finals. Thanks everyone for participating. This has been fun.
