Did You Know: Medal Changes
ATTENTION All War Organizers!
A subtle change was made last year in how the clan department qualified players for clan medals. After a review of the existing policies and a lot of debate, we implemented a small change to what players had to do in order to receive a medal if their clans won.
The original rule was that you had to have 3 games (minimum) and required at least one win. However, this was commonly "worked around" if a player went 2-0. But there were others who would go 0-4+ and wouldn't get a medal while almost everyone else received one while participating in a war with their fellow clan mates and actually providing a higher participation rate.
We have now simplified the rules and gotten rid of the "exceptions" to the rule. In order to receive a medal a player must have participated in 3 games (minimum), but will no longer be required to have 1 win to medal. Anyone who reaches that level of participation in a war that their clan has won will receive a medal. We think this will celebrate participation, and put a stop to players who sometimes have a high rate of participation feeling left out as their mates get medals but they do not.

Tribal Wars - Poly and 1vs1 Wars!
Have you and your clan ever wanted to participate or challenge another clan/tribe in an all poly, or all 1vs1 war?
Up until now, clans have been restricted to keeping these within the 20% limit allowed by the percentage breakdown in place.
Tribes changes all of that!

As previously explained, clans double as "tribes" when desired (while Tribes solely participate in Tribe Tournaments, events and auto tournaments).
Tribes can challenge other tribes in poly and / or 1vs1 matches (similar to clan wars), and is very open to many concepts with very few restrictions.
Team games can also be included within these tournaments / wars, however the focus is for non-team games (Team game wars are generally going to be run through the clan infrastructure).
These tournaments / wars can be manual (similar to regular clan wars) or use the auto tournament infrastructure (although this comes with some restrictions / challenges structurally that have to be adhered to, more on that later). They can be one tribe vs one tribe directly competing, or they can include multiple tribes fighting each other.
Any concepts you would like to play with will be considered on a case by case basis by [player]Lindax[/player], we encourage you to contact him - whether its simple or you want to be creative! Post in the Tribes area the Tournament / War, and Lindax will review and approve for authorization and priv's to get you going.
Rules & Restrictions:
Minimum amount of players: 4
Minimum amount of games: 41
Medal: For every player participating
Auto tournaments have their restrictions/limits, but Tribe Tournaments don't have to be auto tournaments.
When you are considering requesting the auto tournament system, a few things to keep in mind would be that tribes tourneys currently can not eliminate players.
Also the tribe score is the sum of the scores of the players within the tribe.
The tribes need to be specified in advance... or it will be open to all tribes.
You will also need to be mindful of what structure you use that it will make sense with the number of players and tribe / group numbers.
Ultimately, if your tribe or clan has been thinking about doing some fun poly or 1vs1 tournaments or wars, or you just want to practice for the upcoming Clan Tournaments - this is the place to do it! Challenge another tribe and open a thread, the rest will be history!
Also remember there are Tribe medals that can be issued / earned through these contests. If you have any questions, I highly recommend starting a thread or contacting [player]Lindax[/player] directly or post here!

[spoiler=Clan Area Rankings]2 Year F400: The most recognized and accepted Clan Ranking System includes almost all wars and leagues, with very rare exceptions (based on format and games played).
1 Year F400: This ranking highlights Clans for their achievements within the past 12 months specifically, allowing Clans to rise and fall much more quickly. This ranking gives Clans a better idea of where a Clan is today, rather then were they are overall.
This month, G1 and UM8 fell below the activity (weight) threshold to stay on the rankings.

[/spoiler]Clan Tournament Historical Records

Each issue the Clan Department plans to highlight a clan (based on current events, clan wars, or public demand) and a player by interviewing clan leaders and players! We will announce who is to be interviewed here, and you can post all your questions in this thread to be answered in the next issue! We will provide some information on the highlighted clans such as recent or historical achievements, as well as linking readers to their Clan Page so past history, recruitment, and member details will be easily accessible. You'll get the opportunity to ask the Clan's members or leadership any questions, and get to know the group as a whole on a deeper level while the Clans that are highlighted will enjoy some additional exposure and get a chance to introduce themselves to the Clan World in a new, unique way that is difficult to replicate in a recruitment thread.
Clan Highlight
Next month the Clan Department will be interviewing the winners of the public Facebook vote we held, The New Crusade! Post any questions for the always active, always eccentric TNC below!
As the most active clan on Conquer Club, and holders of many records - as well as Mafia Afficiando's there is always something going on at TNC! The first four people who post questions to TNC will get rewarded with 50 Credits just for posting! (must be valid question to earn the reward)
Votes: TNC (2), OSA, ATN, THOTA, TOP
Ask questions of their leaders, members, or just questions in general you'd like to hear the groups thoughts on! Please be sure to state whether you're asking someone specific, the leadership, a member, or the clan as a whole! Have fun and be creative!
This month the Clan Department sat down with the Fraternal Order of Exceptional Drinkers to get to know a little about them, their history, reactions to their winning the 4th Annual 1vs1 Clan Event and more! Check it out below!

[Warning this is a large spoiler]
[spoiler=FOED Questionnaire]Hi gang! Thanks everyone for taking the time to sit down with me and talk a little bit about everything FOED! I know I was excited to learn a few things that I might not know about you, so for me personally this is pretty exciting! Welcome uckuki, danryan, cpm, conchobar, ddgrimes, nippersean, JPlo64, and Juris!
uckuki: It's our pleasure!
Great, lets get started! The Fraternal Order of Exceptional Drinkers was founded way back in 2010, how many original members are still active and playing?
uckuki: nippersean & Royal Panda (Pander88uk then) are the only original Foeds active, at least in Foed. A few other guys might still be active in some other clans. The original spirit of the group is still with us. I came onboard few weeks after FOED kicked off!
Can you descrbe for us how FOED got started, where did the players come from, and what was the focus of the group when it started? What has changed now that you have been around for a few years?
uckuki: FOED was the result of a split within the Outlaws & Highwaymen clan. One of the guys went nuts and killed the whole thing. FOED was built on those ashes. The focus has, for the most part, stayed the same: play fun & good game.
or in danryan’s words:
So how was FOED born? Well, like most tragedies it started with a girl. Carl (rocketry) met a girl who lived near him, who happened to drop her panties and insert his penis into her. Unfortunately, said penis was not the only penis entering this girl so Carl got the ever living shit beat out of him and ended up in the hospital. For a while. Hang on, what the f*ck does this have to do with anything?
I've always wondered, where did the name FOED come from? Who came up with it?
uckuki: According to nippersean LMS came up with the name during a brainstorm session. It was a simple play on the word Foe.
If everyone in FOED could only drink one type of drink, what would it be?
cpm: BEER...mostly only the Midwest brews. The rest is factually garbage.
JPlo64: Craft Beer. More specifically, Imperial Stouts and Imperial IPAs!
uckuki: I like red wine, usually in the $5.99-10.99 range.
Conchobar: I'm Irish, so if I could only drink one drink, it would naturally be Guinness mixed with Jameson.
Juris: What do we drink? I usually drink iced tea, so having an alcoholic drink really is exceptional for me.
Is there anyone in FOED who doesn't drink? Does FOED have a AA support group?
uckuki: When it comes to drinking we are a varied bunch. Some of us don't drink at all and they are not in the hello my name is Joe type group. Although some of us are alcoholics of course (current and/or retired
ddgrimes: I personally do not drink any alcohol. And no I am not in AA, lol.
I have never been a drinker, only tasted beer once, wine a couple of times and hard liquor only once.
So I've never been drunk. I'm 51 years old, so I'm pretty sure it will stay that way. Does that mean I have to leave FOED? LOL
nippersean: I dont drink, but did when I joined. Quit due to drink induced injury, so half marks maybe?
JPlo64: When I play I'm either drinking coffee or beer... I refuse to take a turn otherwise. Occasionally I'll drink bourbon too... that's when my belligerent (nippersean-esque) or rambling (timogl-esque) posts come from!

Can someone try to describe what its like to be apart of FOED? What is the clan chat or forums like behind the scenes? Do you hold drinking competitions?
Juris: Let me tell you about my clan from my viewpoint. I'm one of the most recent to join, and am probably the least experienced member of the clan with under 800 games. This isn't my first clan, but I quit the other when it wasn't any fun. FOED is just what I was looking for -- a bunch of people who are serious about the game but never forget that it IS a game. Victories are relished and celebrated, losses are regretted and then pushed aside. FOED brings new people in from time to time but these guys treat the new members with the same respect given to the long-term members. We have disagreements and egos, but I have never seen disagreements get nasty or personal and I've never seen an ego get in the way of good play. When players make dumb mistakes, I know from too much personal experience, the errors are criticized, but it's done constructively, never aggressively or in bad humor.
This group really IS all for one and one for all.
JPlo64: Think I want to challege cpm to an annual Hopslam drinking competition! I just pounded one myself!

Random League:
RL1 (2011): FOED (runner up: DYN)
RL2 (2012): OSA (runner up: MD)
RL3 (2013): LOW (runner up: TOFU)
RL4 (2014): ACE (runner up: FOED)
RL5 (2015): OSA (runner up: FOED)
RL6 (2016):

1v1 (2012): EMP (runner up: KORT)
1v1 (2013): ACE (runner up: ID)
1v1 (2015): FOED (runner up: TNC)
FOED seemed to have a rough start to 2015 (going 1-4 in wars) but you seemed to find your groove in the latter half of the year, most recently beating ACE 37-28 and locking up a 57 game war vs OSA, currently 31-17. FOED is also unbeaten & first ranked so far in the Random League VI, and 5th overall in CL7 so far going 9-7 vs TOFU and LHDD. This has lead to a recent rise on the F400 scoreboard (2nd place in the 1 year, and 4th place in the 2 year rankings) How do you explain FOED's success? Less drinking, more drinking, or drinking new drinks?
uckuki: one word: whip! I started whippin ‘em for every wrong attack and fort.
nah, we just decided to play a better game, put more team effort into it. jplo gave a good answer.
JPlo64: Personally, I would stretch this question back to the beginning of 2014. In Jan 1 update of F400, FOED was #22 in 2 year and #25 in 1 year rankings. FOED was in trouble and uckuki went to recruiting and brought in a haul of elite players with great leadership qualities. We put an emphasis on team play first and try to help each other out as much as possible.
With good additions and good organization, we rose to #10 in Beginning of 2015. We had some struggles, but the difference was the addition of more elite players as well as high quality team players in general. We put a big emphasis on being a great Team Player first.
Plus, We started brewing FOED branded beer and distribute it to all members. We must crack one open before every clan game turn taken. Really helped get our individual drunkenness together on the the same page. Cohesive drunkenness is the key to success in life.
So is there any one player (or a group of players) who really seems to have stepped up their game and contributed most recently?
uckuki: We have a core group of players that’s essential to our success. I won’t name names because I love all my foeds and they all play the part, whether as soldiers or as sargeants.
FOED seems to have had success in two clan events, the Random League / Cup where you've finished 1st or Runner-up a remarkable four out of six times. You've also seen success in the 1vs1 Clan Challenge Event, being the runner up in its first year and than this year becoming the first ever clan to win the event other than EMP/ACE! Thats a fearsome 6/10 Top 2 finishes in the two events combined! How has FOED found so much consistent success in both events where most would say there is a larger element of luck? Clearly you're doing something right, or do you just surrond yourselves with good luck charms?
uckuki: We don’t need luck because we have [player]timogl[/player], he’s our lucky charm. All kidding aside, I’m not sure luck is a key factor, cause randomness goes both ways. The maps we get are the same our opponents get. Luck can win or lose individual games, but to win wars/competitions you need more than just good luck. or not.
JPlo64: I think the success in random mostly comes from superior team play. That's not just discussing strategy, but the humbleness to know when to lead and when to follow. On top of that, I believe that in general, FOED is more a collection of great All-Around players, as opposed to map specialists. So we fare well in a random environment. + Drunk luck
1v1 success... we seem to have someone to cover most every game, or at least someone willing to put in the work to study and learn how to play mostly game... + more drunk luck!
Can you tell us a little about that experience in the 1vs1 Event? Do you think your past experience in the competition helped prepare you for the competition?
uckuki: Experience is crucial. A clan needs to have the depth to be able to cover away lineups in a quality way.
If you could only sign up for one competition year after year, which event would FOED pick and why?
uckuki: I haven’t run a poll, but random league seems to be our favorite. Sometimes you might draw a lousy map, but for the most part you get interesting maps, some which you’d never think of putting in your regular lineup.
JPlo64: Tough call...if all leagues were of equal prestige, I would choose Random League. Or some version of CL that had a random component.
What are some of the challenges you have faced in past events, can you tell us which war or event has been the most difficult that stands out?
uckuki: The biggest challenge was to stay afloat after [player]danryan[/player] and the rest of the top boys left (LMS, master fen, Deli). It had nothing to do really with the clan events or a war itself. Some people just got tired of the game and others had personal things to attend to (family/health/job etc). Everyone seemed to take us for dead, some friends even started asking which clan I would join. I took the reins more out of desperation then determination, that was spring 2012. It took us 2-2.5 years of ups & downs and there was a lot of setbacks. We took in a lot of players, some good some not so good. But for the longest time we just couldn’t keep the same crew for more than a month, it was a time of constant flux.
Only once we had a solid crew for extended period of time did we start a real comeback. For me, the most difficult have been the last 2 random leagues where we would literally lose the title in the last game, 2 years in a row. That kinda thing really kicks you in the liver.
JPlo64: We went into the ACE war with a HUGE underdog mindset and approached it as a "swing for the fences" or "David vs Goliath" type matchup. We put in tons of work to give us our best chance in that war, and it was quite a challenge.
In terms of most difficult... we were twice dismantled by LHDD. Both times it seemed like everything went against us. That's not to say that they didn't play well, they played amazing and were the better clan.
Has FOED ever had to forcefully kick any of your members out of the clan? If yes, what was the reason (not talking about inactive players)?
uckuki: For the most part people seem to phase out gently. Some people weren’t thrilled but they would accept it and move on. I don’t know of anyone harboring any hard feelings or resentment. There was the rocket case (during the Outlaws & Highwaymen split), but that was an exception where the whole clan split because of it. Actually, nippersean got kicked out previously and now he’s back, and like red wine, he gets better with time.
JPlo64: Not since I've been around, I believe? We've had to tell timogl to "F'off" consistently, but we like to keep him around because he's just pure clean filthy drunken fun.
Have you ever had any meet ups within the clan, where you've met in person? I would assume it would be at a bar or pub, naturally.
uckuki: I haven’t met anyone in person, others might have, I’m not sure. We have several lads from England and we used to have more there, they might have done some things together.
What are some of the reasons you enjoy being in FOED?
uckuki: I find everyone a easy going, humorous bunch with a lot of trash talk but its all in good spirit. We have good gameplay, but not taken too seriously.
JPlo64: FOED gives me a reason to be proud of my drunkenness. We have great teammates and friends. I enjoy being part of building & resurrecting something to greatness.
Tell us one thing about FOED that someone might be surprised to know, or a story that most outside of FOED probably wouldn't have heard about.
uckuki: The fact that many of us either drink very little or don’t drink at all.
That did surprise me a bit!
JPlo64: Probably haven't heard that our own [player]Juris[/player] has just published his 1st childrens book "Through Bobby's Eyes"... everyone needs to buy it!
Are you going to sign up for the 5th Annual 1vs1 Clan Challenge Event? What about the new poly event coming out?
uckuki: I’ll be running both events, so yes we will be playing!
JPlo64: Um, Duh, we sign up for everything!
Lastly, I sat down with [player]Conchobar[/player] and wanted to get a in depth persepective on FOED from an individual, as opposed to the whole group and comparing FOED to some past clan experiences.
Conchobar:
Hey Ice! I only joined FOED about a year and a half ago. But they've made me feel fully part of this great group.
I was a Pig Renter before that, and we certainly enjoyed a drink' with one thread that I recall being: 'for the love of beer.'
Although, we also enjoyed rolling in mud and eating slops from troughs.
FOED certainly has the drinking thing covered with magical threads such as 'What are you drinking?', 'I'm sooo drunk too.', 'The Mini Bar.', 'Beer Thirty' (or Beer O'Clock, depending which side of the Atlantic you're from.) and of course, the always intellectual, 'Beer Goggles.'
Personally, I can easily say that these guys (and gal) are as cool a bunch of conquerors as I've ever had the pleasure of rolling 6's with.
And, not only that but, as you've noticed, we've been kickin some ass lately. And yes, we intend to continue in that vein going forward...
It's simply that we have a great bunch of razor sharp (when sober) players these days, who are really excellent at this game.
They are just the right mix of insightful strategists and clever communicators, who never forget to have fun at the end of the day.
It's this combination of being at a highly competitive level, while not taking things too seriously, that makes me really love this clan.
I wasn't sure I'd ever make such cool conquering acquaintances again, after The Pig Sty collapsed. But, FOED truly are a brilliant band of drunken brothers.
When you're at your best, on a magnificent rampage and smashing all before you, they are there to slap you on the back a bit too hard.
But most importantly, when you're at your worst and the dice just won't stop kicking you in the ribs and smooshing your face into the dirt they are there to call you a taxi and wipe the vomit off your face.
So, read it and weep Conquer Clubbers: ivresse, égalité, fraternité! We eat dragon shit for breakfast!
(Of course, we do also love our members who refrain from the alcoholic arts. After all, everyone's gotta drink something, right?)

This month the Clan Department is pleased to bring you a special interview taken with one of our very own Clan Directors, [player]CatchersMitt14[/player]! This will be the first of a six part interview series where we introduce ourselves to the Clan World. If there's someone else you think would be a fun and interesting interviewee for the Clan World, please post below and let us know! We'd love to hear from you! (Please note, not all questions will get answered depending on personal comfort with sharing personal information, etc) Thanks and have fun!
[Warning this is a large spoiler]
[spoiler=CatchersMitt14 Interrogation]Q: Hi CM! Thanks for participating and taking the time to do this interview! Care for a drink before we start?
Sure, I'd like an old fashioned this evening.
Q: Let’s start with some general questions about you. What do you do for work out in the “real world”?
Currently unemployed - working hard find something and also searching for a new career path.
Q: Are you married, kids? If you are a parent, what was one of your favorite moments with your kids?
Nope, it's the dogs and me.
Q: What are some of your hobbies outside of CC?
Pretty much any outdoor activity will capture my interest.
Q: Are there any other games you enjoy playing outside of CC?
Euchre is the game of choice in my family. We enjoy most board games as well. Except my sister, she refuses to play risk. My parents tried to teach us when we were young and she cried the rest of the night after my Dad "stole her continent."
Q: Do you enjoy sports? If so, which ones? And do you have any favorite teams?
Absolutely! Played fastpitch softball through college and several other sports less competitively. This is my favorite time of the year since the college world series is around the corner and the season officially started last month! Most days though I have to settle for watching baseball...Go Mets!
Q: Who's going to win the Superbowl this year?
Budweiser.
Q: What do you think your free throw shooting percentage would be if you went out and took 100 shots right now? What about from behind the arc?
Probably around 60% for both, I always struggle to remember not to throw the ball in a straight line towards the basket. Though that's assuming there's no defender, it would probably drop to at best 10% in that case.
Q: What is the most obscure sport from which you can name a professional athlete, and who are they?
A triathlete, we went to high school together.
Q: What are some of your favorite movies, TV shows, books, and magazines (No, it doesn’t have to be that kind)?
Movies: Now You See Me, Lord of the Rings, Star Trek, National Treasure
Shows: NCIS, The Big Bang Theory, The Middle, Grey's Anatomy, Suits, Downton Abbey, Hogan's Heroes
Books: Harry Potter (way better than the movies), Hunger Games, really any mystery/thriller, currently reading The Chase by Clive Cussler
Magazines: Who still subscribes to those?
Q: Do you enjoy cartoons? What is your favorite cartoon now? What was it growing up?
Not really, Scooby-Doo is the only one that comes to mind.
Q: What is your favorite Disney movie?
101 Dalmatians
Q: Let’s move onto music; what style(s) of music do you enjoy? What are some of your favorite bands? Songs?
I'll listen to pretty much anything.
Q: What was the last concert you attended?
Took my Mom to see Chris Botti.
Q: What is your drink of choice (alcoholic, or non-alcoholic)?
Iced Coffee - black, no sugar
Q: What is your favorite food? What about dessert?
Can't pick one, I like to cook a wide variety of cuisines, for dinner I made chile rellenos. Peanut butter pie with an Oreo crust is by far the best dessert.
Q: Name something about yourself that nobody in the clan world probably knows about you?
Currently I'm attempting to finish a counted cross stitch project, it's only about ten years ago I started it. Now that I've got some time on my hands I'm doing my best to complete it.
Q: If you could live one day over again, which would it be?
No thanks.
Q: Did you choose that day because it was awesome, or because you want to redo/undo something?
I try to focus on the future.
Q: If your life, do you think you’ve more often been dumped, or been the one doing the dumping?
Can't say I've officially been in a relationship. I've turned down several offers if that counts as dumping.
Q: Do you have a "list" with your significant other, and who’s at the top?
While not currently in a relationship, Ryan Reynolds would have to be at the top of my list or it's a deal breaker.
Q: What is the craziest place you’ve made “whoopee”?
Hmm, I'd probably have to look up the statute of limitations before incriminating myself.
Q: Have you ever had sex with a cheerleader? In the uniform? A female cheerleader?
Pft, no.
Q: What were your SAT/ACT scores?
Who cares? I never did.
Q: If you were to go for a doctorate or professional degree, what would you study and why?
A question I ponder multiple times a day, if anyone has the answer please feel free to let me know.
Q: Have you ever won a carnival game? Which one? If yes, did you get a giant teddy bear? If yes, what did you do with it?
Yes, 'fishing' for rubber ducks. I won a stuffed fish, it's still somewhere around my parent's house, unless the dog found it...
Q: What is one question I should have asked you? Now answer that question:
Ha, nice try Ice
Enough about that. Let’s go from you, the men/women – and talk about you – the player!
Q: How did you come up with your usernames, and what do they mean?
Let's see, I was probably around seven and we had just gotten dial up internet for the first time. I'm too uncreative so I use it for everything. Plus it's easier to remember that way.
Q: If you had to change your name onsite, what would your new name be?
See above.
Q: What do you feel has been your single biggest accomplishment within CC to date?
Making it into the CC10 Finale.
Q: What is one of your best CC moments?
Winning my first tournament, the final game was 1v1 on Trafalgar.
Q: Who is your favorite player to play with?
Outside of my clan, [player]Power Bomb[/player] and his eclectic friend list. Our continual cycle of doodle earth games are quite entertaining.
Q: If you could remove a map off CC, which would you pick and why?
Freaking Hive.
Q: If you could only keep 5 maps on CC, which would you pick and why?
Trafalgar, Doodle Earth, USA New England, Clandemonium, and Peloponnesian War
Q: If you could reign supreme over the site, what would you change?
Restore the freestyle rules.
Q: Let’s talk about Clans. How much time a week do you put into clan work? CC?
I spend more time here most days than I like to admit to myself.
Q: Does being a Clan Director Volunteer feel overwhelming at times?
Nope.
Q: What is the best part of being a site volunteer? Clan volunteer?
The cookies.
Q: Do you feel the Clan Area of CC is living up to its potential?
I think there have been some changes recently and new ideas in the works which have and will add to the clan experience.
Q: If you could choose one clan to fight, which would you pick and why?
HH, I hear they have some sort of newfangled map selection algorithm.
Q: As we approach the beginning of the New Year (2016), what are your biggest goals for Clans in 2016?
Launching Claniversity 2.0
Q: Overall, how do you feel the Clan Area went in 2015?
Pretty well.
Q: Now, for some closing questions. Well…, I apologize ahead of time. If you were a pokemon, which pokemon would you be?
Not a clue. Squirtle? I'm pretty sure that's one.
Q: What teletubby character would you pick for IcePack to be? Why?
I guess the blue one?
Q: Can blind people see their dreams?
Possibly, I'd have to do some research.
Q: If you could challenge another member of the Clan Director Team to a fist fight solely based on your impression of them on the site, who would you pick and why?
MudPuppy, he'd be too busy to find time to train for it.
Q: Who is your favorite person from the history of SNL? Favorite bit?
Can't stand SNL. Really I dislike all late night shows.

Yes, I was ambushed.
