Welcome to chess mafia!
A group of soldiers (chess pieces) are sick and tired of fighting their kings' battles for them so they've gone rogue. They have formed a vicious militia that intercepts the movements of kings and fights them in order to capture and imprison as many kings as possible for their sadistic revenge plan: a gladiator-style competition where the captured kings are forced to fight each other to the death.
King Hector has sent out a group of his most loyal soldiers to stop the rogues once and for all. Their orders are simple: no rogue survives.
This is my first time hosting any mafia game and the setup will be experimental but I hope it will be a lot of fun.
I will take any odd player count with a minimum of 9.
I can start it as soon as we fill or after the hobbit game ends (it's still in the sign up stage) I leave the choice to the players.
[spoiler=Rules]1. Respect the players. Arguments get heated sometimes and you may disagree with people - that's okay as long as there are no personal insults being thrown around.
2. Respect the rules and the mod. I don't mind criticism, in fact, I welcome it so that I can learn from the experience. However, while the game is going on, whatever I say goes.
3. All votes and unvotes must be in bold to be counted. You can type in any color you want but for everyone's sake - pick one that's easy to read and easy on the eyes please. If you want to change your vote you must unvote first. This is just to make your intentions clear.
4. Quoting any PM from me is not allowed. Loose paraphrasing is okay for role claims. I do advise you to be very careful with claims though. You never know how much you are revealing to the other team.
5. I reserve the right to modkill anyone who breaks the rules.
6. If you need to be replaced or know that you will be inactive for longer than 48 hours please let me know by PM.
7. No posts in chat during the night phase. No posts after you die. It just clutters the chat.
8. Absolutely no editing posts please. If you need to edit post again. I have no rules against number of posts in a row but only if you need it. Don't make a habit of excessively posting without adding anything of substance to the discussion.
9. I reserve the right to modify the rules however I see fit and whenever I feel the need to. Any changes to the rules will be announced.
10. The game will start with Day 1. Day phases will have no deadlines, but one may be introduced if enough players ask for it or if I deem it necessary. Night phases will last 48 hours (unless there are special circumstances that warrant an extended night phase)
11. Under very specific situations where it becomes apparent to me that the game is broken in some way I may choose to make changes to someone's role, or influence the game in some way. This change may or may not be announced. However, this will only be a last resort thing. I do not expect we will need it.
12. A lynch occurs when the number of votes on a player equals half the remaining players rounded up to the next integer. (With 9 alive it takes 5 to lynch, 8 alive also 5, 7 alive takes 4 to lynch, and so on). In case the day ends without a majority, the day will end without a lynch.
13. Any and all talk about this game outside of this thread (or relevant quicktopic if you were given access to one) is forbidden while the game is going on. That includes sharing information with anyone that should not have it, even if they are not playing the game. When in doubt about this rule, ask me. If I find out that any communication occurred that breaks this rule I will deal with it as I see fit depending on the situation. That can include modkilling and/or banning the offender from playing another game I host. It is also your responsibilty to report such an offence if you see it.[/spoiler]
