okay,
so i'm in game 581859 it is a freestyle 2 player game.
he takes africa on his first turn and is calling me cheap for not taking my turn while he is obviously still around
my question is: Is this cheap or just survival tactics/ good tactics?

It's a freestyle tactic. It may be considered cheap by some, but it's just the name of the game. You have 24 hours to make your move, and there are no rules saying you have to do it immediately.

and not to mention the person calling me cheap has half the games completed as i do, less than half the number of wins as i do, and a win percent more than 10% lower than mine
Not Cheap

Freestyle is not nescessarily real time unless it is agreed upon before the start.

try explaining that in a 2 player game. In almost every 2 player game I play, the other player thinks the game is RT. Especially if the other player is a non-premium. They can only play 4 games at a time so they want you to rush your turns. Needless to say, the negative feedback gets out of hand.

and i'm a non-premium member- i know it doesn't mean rt but it sounds like my opp does
i wish i was a premium member but seeing as i'm in college i need the money more for food and other costs than i do for unlimited games on CC... not to mention i want to get a new table tennis blade and rubber that will run me a little more than $100 total

I'm in college and didn't get a job this summer... still found that twenty dollars to get the premium : D
...guess some just want it more than others...

Granted, I always make sure to get a rubber while in college, but I would never spend $100 on them.

that is not what i was referring to and i'm pretty sure you knew that... the blade costs about $45 and each of the rubber sheets costs $23 and the glue costs about $3... and when i say rubber sheets i mean one stiga neos (red) and one stiga neos sticky (black)- if you still don't know what those are google it

Maybe he's some kind of bizarre clown that performs in a sex shop, and he needs them for "balloon" animals? I once made a slimy eel

True story…
Anyway, I'm sure you can find 20 bucks somewhere, and I HATE freestyle. Sequential is just so much better…

I dont understand why people complain about this. I like freestyle and see this as part of a freestyle game. If you dont like it, dont' play it, but it adds to the game in my opinion.

It is a good strategy, but its still very, very cheap.

I agree with this.
I don't like freestyle much either, having experimented with it for the most part so far. The 'wait till the end' tactic is really lame and there is no counter to it apart from doing the same thing yourself.

it is not wait til the end- it is wait til you think they aren't sitting there watching the game

if the game isnt real time, than why are you sitting there looking at the screen? The next player has 24 hours to move. So you most likely will have a long wait. If im playing a player and he just took a continent, im not starting my next turn until later. Why should I click "start" only for the other player to collect all his bonuses ? I laugh when I come back to a game 30-60 mins later only to discover the other player was sitting there the whole time waiting for me to start my turn. I have over 100 games going at a time. I dont need to sit there and play just 1 game at a time.
If you want to play real time because you are not a premium member, than go to chat and invite players to play. In most cases they will still do the same thing even though it was agreed upon to play real time.
