The whole thing is a false dichotomy. You won't keep one very long without a reasonable quantity of the other. Nor can either be absolute. A reasonable balance with a good quantity of both protections is my goal.

Only in developed nations. The two options seem more like two pieces of a step-by-step plan to prosperity.

Depends on how you interpret it. Basic economic security can also be accomplished through a strong healthy jobs market.
