New Pricing April 15th

Post by Dukasaur »

All costs rise over time, and Conquer Club is not immune. Prices have not increased for years and this will not be much more than covering inflation. As of April 15th the new subscription price will be $31 for a one-year subscription and $10.75 for a quarterly subscription.

Subscription pricing is good for the life of the subscription -- that means if you buy now at the old price, it will never increase (for you) as long as you maintain that same subscription.

bigWham wrote: Pricing will be reviewed at least annually. We believe this is still one of the most cost-effective gaming experiences around.

A big "Thank You!" to all our premium members; this site would not be possible without you!

So if you are already subscribed, do you need to do anything by April 15 to lock in your price?

As long as you didnt / don’t unsubscribe then no, you should be fine.

I think the wording here is important, you need to subscribe. The subscription renews each 3/12 months and you need to have a subscription, not just a premium account. Am I correct?

A subscription is when you pay with cash. It automatically renews either once each quarter or once each year.

If you buy your premium with credits not cash, that's not a subscription.

If I turned off my automatic renewal, do I need to re-engage to qualify for the locked priced?

Also, if in 2019, I buy an annual using Credits, will my price in 2020 be the new price or will I still have the locked subscription price? I'm guessing not.

If you're currently on a subscription, you do NOT need to do anything. It will automatically renew at the old price.

If you turned it off to buy a year for credits, then yes, you would lose the locked-in price. If you have that many credits sitting around, though, it might be worth it.

1) This is reasonable.
2) It's ridiculous that bigWham is not posting this himself.

I'd double the price. I am sick of playing with poor losers that live in Mommas Basement. We should price them out.

Shouldn't you be premium then?

I have no idea whether I subscribed or not .... when I see my gold icon turn black and white, I pay what is asked. Great value which I am happy to pay each year.

It's more than reasonable. The cost of premium has always been pretty cheap on this site and even with the increase will remain so. If we want to see CC get more features and, dare I say it, go mobile, the only way to do that is with more money. On this note I'd encourage bW to pursue advertising more heavily if he isn't already. I know that CC is a part time thing for him and he spends the majority of his time doing back-end work since he is the only coder that works on CC anymore.

As for him not posting, I explained why he likely didn't before. I imagine he also wasn't sure how we would react and preferred Dukasaur to announce it himself given his good reputation with the community. Or perhaps Dukasaur offered, since he's that kind of guy. It's all speculation, but I do feel it wouldn't have been much effort on bW's part to make the post.
