Anti-Russia Dummies Fall for It Again

Last month, the Romanian Constitutional Court annulled the presidential election after anti-NATO candidate Călin Georgescu won the Romanian presidency.

The court cited, as evidence, information supplied by Romanian intelligence -- which received it from the CIA -- that said Russia funded an influence campaign on TikTok to get Georgescu elected.

Georgescu was banned from taking the oath of office and the pro-NATO president's term was extended indefinitely.

Today, the Romanian tax authority concluded its investigation that determined Russia didn't fund anything. The TikTok promotions were paid for by the pro-EU Social Liberal Party as part of an ill-fated effort to draw votes away from its rivals in the Social Democratic Party. However, they accidentally used a hashtag that was already being used by Georgescu's poorly funded campaign, driving millions of voters to his videos who decided they actually liked what he was saying.

Georgescu had, among other things, pledged to cancel Romania's contract to buy $7.2 billion worth of F-35 human killing machines from the United States and use it to pay for housing, instead, if he were inaugurated on December 21 (as would have happened).

The last day to cancel and receive the deposit back from the escrow holder is January 1.

Update - In November anti-NATO Călin Georgescu won the Romanian presidential election. The Romanian authorities, therefore, annulled the election and said they'd have to rerun it.

Georgescu said he'd run in the new election and, this month, was leading in the polls. Today, the Romanian authorities banned him from running altogether.

Romanian far-right populist Calin Georgescu has been barred from participating in May's presidential election rerun by the country's Central Electoral Bureau. The bureau rejected his candidacy for what it called "procedural issues", without providing further details.

If the candidate we want wins we'll respect the vote. If he doesn't, we'll cancel it, ban him, and keep rerunning the election until the candidate we want wins.
