I have now quite a few games under my belt and notice how many player avoid attacking those with high points.
I wonder if this is psycological?
I have noticed other players allowing high ranking players to build up nice bonuses and not attacking them for it. It usually means when I attack them I end up losing and eventually the high rank wins.
What do you think. Do you think that people avoid attacking high ranking players allowing them easy wins. From the 50 or so games I've played I think so.
Looking at your games, I do not notice you playing many high ranking players outside of doubles and triples games... Perhaps you can give an example.
Personally I have noticed quite the opposite - high rankers tend to get targeted, particularly in terminator games, either for their points, or because people think that they must have magical powers which enable them to win despite being suicided on. This is part of the reason why most high ranking players tend to avoid public singles games.
and by the end of round 2 i am down to 3-4 territories and lesser armies then any1 (60% of the time ) , thats not the case for all the games... as sometime my drop helps me out to stay away from crazy stupid players
i double that. i'm no field marshall but getting to sergeant in the small nuber of games i've played is an achieement i think because i tend to be targeted by nutters in the games i play because of rank.

What you might be missing is that better players often wait for someone else to do the dirty work. Why waste a bunch of armies busting up someone's bonus when there's always a noob around to do it for you? End of the day, the player doesn't get his bonus and loses whatever armies he had guarding it. Meanwhile someone else bore the brunt of the work.
So perhaps you're the noob that is getting pimped?
i don't have a high score but i think i'm decent at 1600+ points. if i play with low ranks i'm usually targeted even if it's not terminator.
but in some situations high ranks are protected. for example if there's another player with more points than me and in a game both me and him have equal chances of winning, it often happens that the 3rd player attacks me (if he has no chance to win) just to protect his score.
“In the beginning God said, the four-dimensional divergence of an antisymmetric, second rank tensor equals zero, and there was light, and it was good. And on the seventh day he rested.”- Michio Kaku
Yes i do go for the guy who is getting the bonuses (it is usually the ranked player as no one has attacked him) and I don't have any examples as the games are finished.
I don't really understand the points system and will not play it I play every game to win I realise that by carefully selecting my games i can get different symbols to my name but that's not why I play games i enjoy the game itself.
perhaps when i get bored of playing i will go for the points

Bob you are missing the point !
The top singles players achieve high rank because they win a lot of games, they win a lot of games because they are good. Good play = wins = points = higher rank.

Yeah, but there are also ways of playing the score system to achieve better results, most of them based around selectively choosing what games you play, but some based around actual in game tactics. I agree with Bob though, people should play for fun... you know as long as they don't think it's fun to attack me.

I did not make captain by joining freestyle games. I am very bad at freestyle. So in that respect i select games.
I prefer to stay away from no cards games as they tend to take to long, and i don´t like doubles all that much so I usually play singles.
There are ways for a low ranked player to get a high ranked player without haveing even a basic grasp of tactics, but thats usually because they lift as a doubles partner with a very high ranking player, who is good enough for the both of them(in giving orders at least)
But usually when i encounter majors and the like in singles, I see them gaining a continent and holding it. If only by the sheer force of tactical play. Suicides are needed to deny them their continent, and unless you have a bunch of idiot player, thats not going to happen. Meaning high ranks get their continent.
Its not about psycology, well not alone, but also good placement, build up and focus and not loosing to many man. High ranks don´t loose much man because they don´t use the auto attack button. Small losses means you live to fight another day.
I have never shown any hesitation in going after a high-ranked player myself. I treat all equally as I dominate their existence....well, at least in my head that is.
I typically play in games with higher ranks to gain points (or not lose as many). Once the game starts, I'll make sure lower ranks don't get bonuses b/c I don't want to lose more than 20 points. But I try to just play my own game and do the best to win, whether it means stopping the higher player or the lower player.
It's not that people don't attack me because I have a high rank; I got a high rank by trying my best not to get attacked. The trick is anticipating the other players' strategy and going for a continent that no one else will fight you for.
I go after the higher rank, They have that rank because they are good at what they do. It shows that they are a veteran here at conquer club.
You might say that what if their is a newbee that is excellent at Global Domination. Well, Who plays board games anymore? If they don't play here, they probably don't play often enough to have their strategies down.
do you think that if you are playing well against 3 1400 pointers the likelyhood is that they will gang up and beat the lower player that way avoiding a big points drop.
I hate the points system in this game I really do, they should get rid of it or make leagues each one with their own points.
Most high ranking players I play against seem to play 10-15 trips games then play 3-4 single games then back to the trips games to up their scores. Without a good partner or 2 you have no chance to make it anywhere or enjoy a good game even if you are serious about playing, you are left to play with new players and deadbeats all the time.
They should have
1v1 league
1 triples league
2 doubles leagues: 2*2 and 2*3
2 singles leagues : 3-4 player games and 5-6 player games.
So in total instead of one set of points you would have 6 different points tables.
Bob after 80 games you have gone precisely nowhere, you should really address the obvious shortcomings in your game before complaining about the system. The formula for calculating points is hugely biased towards low ranks and yet you are still not moving forward at all !
