My advice

Post by hulmey »

Keep Touranments simple and with a good catchy theme!! Also dont bite off more than you can chew. As happened to me in my first Tournament.

I see alot of captains and home matches...These are all rubbish add ons that you dont really need!!!

Yeah I agree, I'm currently doing my first tournment, only 20 people, one map, three rounds very easy. I'm really like doing it plan on doing another one very soon maybe little more complex.

Hey, not fair. if people like to add something to make things different and more interesting then who are you to say that it's bad

But anyway, yeah, keeping it simple at the beginning is very good :) Though I think that it's too late to this forum because here are people who already have run a tourney or two.

Hopefully OPie is putting something similar to his... hmm, how are you calling it? The thingy that you are making with tips to help people run tourneys?

Yeah, The Tools for Organizers is under construction, but you may have to wait a few weeks for it. It's pretty comprehensive.

This is an excellent idea. If only everyone would start small and grow from there. It isn't a secret that most of our regular organizers have started simple and then progressed to something more complex.

If only everyone would see this pattern. :)

As for themes and fancy ways of doing things, there definitely should never be any discouragement from doing something along those lines. It would be excruciatingly painful if all of use were to do nothing but bracket style tournaments, or league style tournaments. It is nice to see a healthy mixture of themes when I look through the forums.

LOL, my thread is titled my advice :

whats the point of having home games ( i have a few ideas on this )..Whast the point of having a captain? You should never have to rely on someone else to relay the message (thats why most of you do it)....

Just silly things that make your Tournament harder to organise!!
