Do you prefer playing with cards or not
This is a purely a question for research purposes, it is not going to affect whether we play with cards or not.

In answer to your question, it's a hard question to answer. In singles games I will only play with cards (of the escalating variety). In team games I prefer no cards although I also enjoy escalating.
So if you divide the two I'd say - singles cards and team games no cards.
But if I have to give a single answer I suppose it'd be cards

I prefer no cards. It takes more patience and calculation. and makes the game more fluid for me.
esc is about running the board and chaining cards. The first game I won was on the North American board with 8 folks. I won the game on turn 8.
red had some bad dice and I noticed he had 4 cards. I took him and three others out. The next turn I received 25 armies for all my territories..took out the next weakest and won that turn.
It was LUCK. I knew what to do but I was at the mercy of the dice and cards.

exactly right, escalating and no cards remove a significant amount (but not all) of the luck element.

I think quite the opposite. Have you ever played dubs when the the other team started out with a continent that could be easily fortified? Thats pretty much GG in no cards.

LOL
Yes... but only if you have Wicked's avatar up on your screen.
I voted cards... though I like playing all different ways. It's more challenging... as you have to go from one game to another and adjust your stratgey based on the various options. I play a lot of World 2.1 games... but the strategy is so different based on card type, FOW, number of players, fortification etc.
