NYC Map [Vacation]

I started a New York City Map, i don't know if anyone has started one already, but since none were on the front page i thought i'd give it a shot.

I just did a rough sketch, i'll find good place names (i fudged a map i found and traced w/ some xtra borders cus it was too plain)

I'll put a river between Manhattan and Bronx, plus i might split some into two continents, but i kind of like having a few huge continents, might make gameplay a bit mroe agressive.

wow, that one looked pretty cool.

i was thinking of implementing the airport attack scheme, but i dont' have New Jersey, and Laguardia and JFK are in the same continent, not too far apart, so i abandoned it. The non-adjacent attack mechanic's not an original idea anymore so i could just abandon it

Personally, what you've got so far is already better than the original author's version of a nyc map

Heres what i have for continent bonuses

The Bronx (red): 4
Manhattan (Green): 2
Queens (blue): 6-7
Brooklyn (yellow): 4 (i added 2 more countries btw which might be one more border)
Staten Island (orange): 4

yeah, but they're temporary, this is jsut a concept, i'll replace them w/ bridges and boats when i make them

Right now i'm looking for gameplay feedpack, any borders i should make/get rid of, any changes in the values of the continents etc.

The bronx and Brooklyn should be worth more than staten island, as they've got more borders and more countries..
Maybe be staten island could have a bonus of 3 instead, and brooklyn could go up to 5..

I'm thinking of putting a barrier between parts of brooklyn and Queens, because queens has 6 borders. I coudl give it an obscene bonus, like 8-10 but i think its better for gameplay if i put a border in

what do u guys think?

I *really* like the background, maybe fade the colors of the map a bit to make it match?

And unless you make some awesome bridge, I like the simple black trail of dots connecting countries, it looks like there would be a ferry line there.

I want to make the map pop a bit, so i chose a muted tone for the background.

Improved the manhattan-The Bronx river

Got rid ofClifton-Dyker Heights (brooklyn has enough borders)

Changed color of South Beach-Coney Island, and Clifton-SoHo so you can see them (still needs improvement, i know. I'm open to any suggestions)

Iproved shorter-span bridges, i might make it gray and yellow, so it looks more bridge-like

I want your opinion on the background, whether i should have the grainy one, or this smoothed out one, i also changed the shade of the roads

i realise its a bit ahrd to read Brooklyn, i'll make a map key, in a nice isolated box, so ignore that for now

Staten island is a bit big for a 2, but i coudl definately see bronx having 5

I'm not putting more countries in manhattan because i think it woudl be better if i had at least one small continent to make the games go a bit faster

I added a key, i think it looks ok, it might be a bit hard to read in some spots, so i might have to change the background to a solid color

I'll also probably add a bottom and top border so it looks more finished, (i just realised that as i was posting this)

Just two suggestions. You might want to consider upping the bonus of Queens to 8, as it has 6 countries to defend (not even Asia in the classic map has that many to defend). Also you might want to make the connection between South Beach and Coney Island more apparent
