    Looks good for a first draft, this could develop into a great map, I think.

    I'll come back and post tomorrow, I don't have enough time to leave a good response right now.

    Jake, great job! I think it's almost ready for the next step. The only thing I would change is making the colors have a greater difference.

    Ummm...you know that port in the north is not on the water in real life. That would be China. I think that this is a good idea though. It is definitely a region that has yet to be mapped.

    :oops: Should I move it to Hangyong-Bukto 3 (wow we need to shorten that for the XML … HB?) or P'Yongang Namdo 3? Anywhere else (these are my two top choices … possibly HB1)?

    I would say HB1 because it gives the route more appeal.

    This is a really nice looking map for a first draft, but i have one major concern: this is clearly the large version of the map at 828 x 684 pixels, yet you use only about a third of those pixels on the actual map. As a result you have territories that are way too small to fit territory names and army counts. When you shrink this down to 75% for the small map you're really going to be in trouble.

    The Korean peninsula is longer north-south - why not orient your map that way? Put the focus of this image on the playable map itself, and less on the giant headline and very pretty background.

    Well I think I'm going to keep the #s as the names of territories so that shouldn't be a problem but the army count is very true. I'll increase the actual map's size. I did use the outline from a map of the Korean Peninsula, so the proportions come from that. Of course, CC doesn't limit its maps to real-life size, so I think I will skew it some. Also, I think I will move the bonus legend to the lower right corner so it's not as cramped up there.

    Yes, but then I'll have to either use a symbol or … well that because I don't think a line going around the entire peninsula is a good idea.

    Also, I realized I spelled Peninsula wrong :oops:

    I think there are far to many bonuses for this size of a map. There is almost no distinction between North Korea and South Korea. It is not doing the place justice in this form. [-X It is so common it brings nothing new to the table. :oops: He needs to make this map unique for it to be worth playing.

    I disagree. I think some of the best maps are the ones with the simplest and most standard gameplay.

    One thing that this map really needs (other than better graphics) is names. I dislike maps that use numbers for the territories because often you get mixed up when you are trying to take your turn quickly. This map will be even more confusing than most because of the similarly named regions (Cholla-Bukto/Cholla-namdo for example). And if you don't think that you can fit the names in there, that can easily be remedied. You could make the legend much smaller and then enlarge the map, because right now, you legend does take up half of your space. In fact, I would suggest that you get rid of your legend all together and use a minimap instead because of how confusing the names are.

    Will do … and anyway sorry about the delay for v3 which has names. I agree with you whole-heartedly and fixed it up.

    well, it doesn't have to be strictly the peninsula. will you be adding ullungdo and dokdo as well?

    I also agree that a minimap would be better for the bonuses.

    you should call the territory ullungdo and dokdo.

    and secondly, the borders need work. they look messy and unnatural.

    Definitely right here. Make the map crisper and more professional looking. The crayon-y look of this map does not do it justice (or any map for that matter). Also, I liked the nice background you had before. I do not see why you added the ocean and land in there. Also, you are gonna need some more impassables, because right now it is just a huge free-for-all in there. Find some more mountains ranges and use them to divvy up the land a little better.

    I am going to post a poll whether to keep China, China & Ocean, or neither. I put it there because I felt it put more of a bonus on the map … before the colors seemed too similar … maybe I will just go over the painting with something at 50% opacity like before.

    I agree with you about the borders — I just read up some more and learned the pen lines w/ vector or whatever … should help. Also, I was going to include more impassables … most likely mountains once I learn some good ones (still need to look into Korean geography).

    I know it's small, but:

    Seems like I could get a lot of North, spread out along the East Coast, and one in the South.

    Jake impassible would be a good idea. You cant just create them all in the north. You see the line of mountains down the center? Put a impassible there but not down the entire center.

    I was looking at this great map you made and something hit me. If you look at the gray bonus you will see it will earn you five. To hold it you must defend each territory. In the north if you hold the top two bonus areas you only need to defend to spaces while you receive the same amount each turn as the person trying to hold all five of the gray spaces. What i am trying to say is that the bonus structure needs work.

    What are you talking about?
    3 from terits + 2 from orange bonus = 5
    3 from terits + 5 from gray bonus = 8
    there's a difference.
