I love the idea
I'll allow you the honour of posting this in Suggs & Bugs

CC SKINS
Concise description:with todays beautiful and slightly annoying pink "skin", i am wondering why not keep it as an option and create other options that CC members can choose to select as their personal theme.
Specifics:allow CC members to pick and choose their own personalized skin, kind of like how gmail and yahoo let people create personalized "skins" or "looks" for their home pages.
This will improve the following aspects of the site:allow people to have a custom look to their CC war machines. there could even be a mega bland one for those members that sneak turns at work and try to keep a low cube profile. personally, i would love some pink camo to decorate my war machine!!!
p.s.-i liked the current pink them when it was first used by the Bullet-Proof Bandits for our valentine's day sig... however, if you can't create, why not just copy? ahem...

Re: CC SKINS
I am fairly certain that the forum settings/colors are coded separately from the top and left site menus, so the forum would have to stay a set color. Otherwise, I think this would be a good idea, but I don't know about the feasibility on lack's end.
Re: CC SKINS
This would be great. I wonder if it would be possible to have the skin design be open to the community, like maps are. I bet some of the more graphically inclined members could make some really cool skins.

Re: CC SKINS
How about having a skin contest? Have the winner become the default skin, and the top candidates can start the skin collection that players can select from going forward.
Selectable site themes
I think the April fools day theme is great, hurts my eyes a little
, but I love it.
I think it would be great if you made a few selectable site themes. A few extra banners and some CSS and we'd be in business.

I did but I was looking for the word theme... Skin just didn't register at first.
Atleast I know you like my idea.

Move it where ?bedub1 wrote:Good call...Mods will you please move this?
I'm guessing, though I'm not sure, that you're suggesting this thread is merged with the CC skins thread.
But if that's what you are suggesting I don't see the point since there is nothing of any substance in the three posts above. If that is the topic that you wish to discuss I would suggest posting in that thread. And if that's the case this thread can be safely locked.
If on the other hand I've completely mis-guessed please PM me and we'll sort it out!

Or, heck, how about any skin that gets a certain number of votes? If the members come up with 100 good skins (and 10,000 crap skins), why not keep all hundred?
(BTW, I notice that the heart-dice graphic - http://static.conquerclub.com/dicecute.gif - has already been removed.)
Re: CC SKINS
Great idea! I had the same idea but posted it to the "Love Wars" or whatever that forum is to express how much I loved the new colours...but I guess it is a suggestion. Obsiously the code is already present...just give us a radio button to select it!

Actually, there is a built-in method in phpBB3 that allows a user to change their style, however lack has disabled it

Get...off...of...my...karot...
I'm sure that fully customisable skins would take up a lot of server bandwith, but maybe two or three choices could be accomodated if coded.
