Targetting players due to rank - legal?
Is it legal to target a player specifically because they have a higher rank than you? In a recent game I had a low ranking player take me out so that the other low ranking player would win. He admitted such in chat, and stated that it was not against the rules.
Even the player who won recognized it was lame, posting this to my wall:
"Thanks for the game green, shame yellow spoilt it, I will enjoy locking swords with you again "
The player who did this probably wonders why higher ranking players never start public speed games.

i believe that would be under the rules of throwing the game.. at best he may get a warning if u post in the cheating and abuse section...
but yeah it sucks, i know a couple of lower rank players that would do the same pretty much from the start of the game.. but lets be honest, there is games where u will win because another higher rank player may focus more on the lower rank so they loss less points...
seen it done both ways... when i set up public assassin games i find if its a 3 player game its 2 vs 1 if two low ranks join.. which really blows..

I could imagine that being legal play in a terminator game, where the low rank indeed gains from taking out the higher rank, even if he doesn't win the game. In a standard game? Not so much.

I've seen numerous times a higher rank say that they need to hit a lower play so they lose less points. I've never actually come across a lower rank targetting a higher rank though. But I have no doubt that they do. So it happens on both sides.

well, would you not see higher ranks as a threat?

Personally, I find that action reprehensible. However, the site seems perfectly content to allow high-ranking players to help each other stay alive "to protect their rank", so I guess if the site thinks it's ok...

it doesn't matter if its standard or terminator.. let me give u a scenario.. 3 players left in a standard game, 2 majors and a cook.. so Major 1 knows he cant win the game.. but the cook and other major are pretty much tied, and the game could go either way.. so the losing major cashes his army or whatever and hits the cook.. now look the other major ends up winning.. now instead of losing 50-100 points (if the cook won) he loses 18-22.. pretty big difference...
just for the record, i have never played this way and wont, if the lower rank player got to that point he deserves as much of a shot to win as the other player... so i will just hang around and let them battle it out

You can assault whoever you'd like in the game. However, if there is a history of someone "throwing their games" as a part of targeting, they may be disciplined (as outlined in the Community Guidelines).

You see it both ways alot. Higher ranks guarding point loss and lower ranks shark packing highest rank. It's crap. I try to stay away from those games that feed those strategies.

Individuals that are so worried about points that they allow it to ruin the integrity of the game should get a life.
