new game type: Hardcore

Post by 4V4T4R »

* Suggestion Idea: Have a new "Hardcore" game type.
* Specifics: All territs start out with only 1 army each (instead of 3), and all
reinforcements are cut in half and rounded down. So, for example, if you
would get 3 armies + 4 for holding a country in a normal game, in a hardcore
game you would receive 3 troops (7/2).
* Why it is needed: It would create a very different style of gameplay.
Because you don't have as many troops to work with, strategy would be even
more crucial.

This is a good idea, but hardcore isn't the name. cut in half isn't hardcore, but more of a longer tournament style gameplay.

They should also have a deathmatch gameplay with double armies, rather than half.

I don't know about starting everybody with one army... Somebody could get lucky and especially with team games and small maps, people wouldn't get to take a turn.
In heaven... Everything is fine, in heaven... Everything is fine, in heaven... Everything is fine... You got your things, and I've got mine.

on such a small map, you would also only get 1 army to deploy, and I highly
doubt that anyone could eliminate someone using an army of 2. People would
almost certainly start with more than 1 territ, and so such quick eliminations would be
quite impossible, unless literally everyone in the game teamed up against
one player, in which case it wouldn't matter whether it was a hardcore game or not, they would still be dead.

Ah, so you're talking about also removing the 3 army limit (which kinda goes with the spirit of this game type anyway...). Well, I must say, I like it :)

And don't forget the massive defender's advantage with lower troop numbers and then the sometimes questionable dice. Hardcore mode as presented would be a total crapshoot.

There would less strategy, not more! The dice would play too big a role.

And possibly the opposite could be incorporated too, with loads of armies?

I agree, with so little armies, dice and cards would play to big a role.
Guys I am intentionally lurking. Discuss; Play mafia, it is good.

Imagine this in a No Cards game with the recent "No Forts" suggestion. Talk about strategy!

I think it's an interesting idea. I doubt I'd ever play it, and I'm not strongly for or against it either way. If there's demand for it, I have no qualms with the additional option.
