Rolling those dice...

Postby Lexitonia5 on Fri Jul 11, 2008 11:59 am

Help! Does anyone have a trick in using the dice? I know this sounds like an odd question but I have to ask. In at least a couple of rounds in every game I play, I lose a phenominal amount of armies trying to take a small amount - lose 12 trying to take 1 for example. I basically lost an assassin game because of this. I no longer use auto attack because I have lost so many times with it. Also, my record for hitting a three and taking it with a three is almost completely 100% against me. I think I've only done it twice with success. Even my record of 3 v 1 is very bad. I almost never take anything on the first round unless there's a 1 nearby and I'm beginning to just deploy on the first round all the time and not try for anything.

I suspect there is some trick I am not aware of. I've tried different things, rolling the dice only when the clock is on an even number or an odd number, clicking on other parts of the board before hitting attack button, deploying in one spot but attacking from a different spot for the first attack. I compared my CC rolls against real dice, and the real dice where a lot friendlier. Then sometimes in a game I have great success and feel like a "normal" CC player.

I really couldn't believe that my luck is that bad. I trusted that the dice really are random so I compared a few rolls to real dice. The real dice are simply not as unfriendly to me at the CC dice. Is there something about me? my IP address maybe? I was chatting with a guy once during a game and he told me that one time he lost 12 trying to take a 3 (or something like that) and it was awful - one time not one time per game!! How is the possible? He was ranked alot higher than me and had played a lot more games. That's what made me think I am doing something wrong.

Does anyone have any advice on this ?

I feel the same. That's because we haven't PMed lack and bribed him to give us dice. You see some people, specifically the ones you lose against, send lack $5 every day for those dice.

Everyone gets the same unpredictable (and balanced) dice. The best ways to deal with your problems are psychological. Distribute your deployment to a number of places so you don't end up seeing 4 pairs of losses in a row. Don't use auto-attack so you can stop before it gets out of hand. Only attack when you have a dice advantage (4-anything, 3-1, and not 3-2 or 2-1). Also, install the dice analyzer, so that after a bad streak, you can look at it and think "Oh, I guess I've been getting good dice for a while, because this all looks pretty even".

Welcome to the "bend over and grab your ankles" part of this site - the dice. The dice file has strings of "killer 1's" that are apparently all back to back. There are also strings of killer 0-2's. Allegedly the file has been analyzed for this stuff, but it's been a sore subject. The powers that be don't like to address it. There is no strategy except suck it up, and decide whether you care enough to quit the site or not.

You never know when you're going to be rolling into one of these strings. You can try to walk away from the game for a few minutes between rolls. That only works if you have enough armies to roll more than twice, of course. It's also more of a strategy to avoid kicking your PC down the stairs than actually winning the game.

In theory, you should be able to minimize the impact of dice "luck" if you play maps where you accure huge armies - i.e., law of large numbers. To some extent this works for feudal, new world, AoR... which possibly explains some of their popularity.

first thanks for your input, second, whats the dice analyzer? I just tried to install the clickable map but I keep getting a windows error. Is this another type of script add-on?

I have firefox. Don't know about greasemonkey. Do those impede my ability to install script add-ons?

Say, how do you pay Lack off? do you have the address? Does he take credit cards

Thanks for your input too gdeangel. Apparently, I'm just trying too hard to keep up with some players that I simply can't keep up with  I'm not giving up my Conquer Club though, even if I have to be a cook with 1 point to my name. :D

Paypal

Look up greasemonkey and install, it's an addon. Then you can have clicky, BOB, dice analyzer. It's well worth it.

You can only install the scripts in Firefox. There is a simple page that tells you how to add greasemonkey... here: http://www.conquerclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=59&t=41487

To add the dice analyzer, you do the same thing you'd do to add BoB, but go here instead: http://www.conquerclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=59&t=5655

Im going to break rank with the 2000+ point people.

The truth is, after you break 2000 CC gives you an extra +3% in your attack dice and defense dice for winning that roll. Ever wondered why some higher ranked people get better dice? there you go.

Im probably going to receive some flak and people are going to try and cover this up again so dont let that get you down.

I wish someone told me about the secret dice when i first came here......

Thank you all so much!ou are all wonderful. I should have come on here a long time ago. I love those add-ons! And now that someone else has basically confirmed what I suspected all along (the higher the points the better the dice), I will hunt down some lower point players to beat up on  Just kidding, I'm not like that.

I'm going to have to strive for the 2000 mark though!Happy gaming all!

Yeah. Don't attack 3v3. You'll lose them all, about 80% of the time.

The dice advantage for the higher ranked doesn't soud right. Seems a good reason for the noncoms to stick together when facing officers.

There must be a bug then with my profile - I think for me it went -3% dice, not +, seeing as I continually get anally raped in games when going for kills with 6v1 and 5v1.

Forget what has been said so far (except for the bonus for high-ranked players, double bonus for premiums btw). You must sacrifice a virgin to the Dice Gods at new moon and pray to them whenever you go online, also knock on wood before you click attack or auto attack. Then you will be blessed with unbeatable dice, unless of course your opponent is also a true believer.

And FI, have you filed a bug report about it yet?

Played a game vs aliakaber today where I had 0-8 show up three times within 5 turns.

Ali also had 1-7 vs me when autoing 10v3 and failing to take the territory.

Such rolls are bullshit, neither of us should have gotten any of that shit.

It's actually only a +3% when you are playing with no other high rank in the game. If someone else in there is above 2500 then it disables automatically.

Quite a complicated system actually haha.

Another twist in the system is, for every minute you take during your turn an extra 3% is added to your winning likelihood

No, it's the opposite, unless you worded it wrong. The LONGER you take during a turn, you get -3%. This is to discourage players from wasting time in freestyle games and taking their turns asap and ending. Also for sequential it's so people can be rewarded for thinking on their toes instead of trying to judge strategy on the board...!
