This is a bit of a philosophical question...

I have many times been caught up in the "inexorable quest for points". Fame and glory, recognition etc...

However, this type of worldview, means that I play a protectionist game style - I play the same maps on the same settings, mainly 1v1 or large terminator games. I join games that have ranks the same or above mine to minimize the points I lose if I lose. I get to a point where I realize I'm not enjoying CC and then I switch to an expansionist game style...

This means learning new maps, trying new game styles... and losing a lot. Now initially I enjoy this, but then my points get lower and lower and nearer to Sergeant 1st Class and then I start to panic and revert back to the protectionist games style... and round and round I go.

I guess this hints towards the following conclusions:

1. We all have a level that we would be at if we didn't care about points (mine would probably be Sergeant 1st Class) and this level gradually increases over time, due to experience.
2. Because we want fame, glory and recognition, we "play it safe", artificially boosting our rank.
3. I have maintained an upper Captain/lower Major rank for about 6 months and I therefore propose that the actual rank of a person is probably 2 ranks lower than the rank that they display to the world.
4. This still means that Colonels (Captains) are better at CC than Majors (Lieutenants) etc...
5. This means that the current ranking system is relevant and accurate at showing who is better at CC.
6. The only important thing is that we enjoy ourselves when we play CC.

Playing tournaments are a real test of ability and are great fun too!

Sure, but there's a plateau. Skill doesn't rise indefinitely.

Some of us do, some of us don't. It depends on whether you like variety and want to experience the whole site, or like high scores and prefer to stay in your comfort zone (and I'm not talking about farmers, they are borderline cheaters).

You mean, if they play for points. I think being a Major/Colonel is respectable enough, there's too much drama among the General+ crowd.

Depends on how you define "better" and "CC"...

On a macroscopic level, yes, but there are very good players who are medium-ranked, and decent payers who are highly ranked (battle royale, anyone?).

It is important, but some place their rank at a higher importance. It's possible to derive satisfaction from both.

You don't seem to realize the lengths to which some people will go to get points. You could make some kind of formula about how points are (how much you care about points)*(actual skill), but it would be vague.

Personally i don't like tournaments. Maybe it's cuz i've only played one and it turned out to be a horrible experience based on luck of other players.

BUT i do enjoy playing doubles/triples/quads with my family we have an excellent team when we play together i think my reinvented doubles record with my brother is something like 9 for 11 which is pretty damn good if you ask me. Also my trips family record is 3 for 4 or something like that. So basically what im saying is that we friggen rock!!

Sure, but there's a plateau. Skill doesn't rise indefinitely.

Actually a recent study has shown that if you practice/do something for 10,000 hours you become an "expert" at it. That is a lot of improving before the plateau is reached.

Your obviously retarded enough to be a major and not know how to play escalating games. So let me explain it to you, as you failed to explain the skills of it to everyone else. There is skill in the early rounds of the game in terms of positioning yourself and getting yourself close to a person you can kill and gain armies from later in the game, then once you are close to somebody on all fronts you kill them and make a gain in armies from the cards you recash. Then everybody starts killing each other and doing what you have just done, and if you are good at the game settings you will win the majority of the time. I play many forms of different style of games (Escalating games, Feudal games, Doubles, Trips, Adj forts, chained forts, unlimited forts, flat rate, no cards, escalating, SEQUENTIAL, freestyle ETC ETC ETC...) And yet i can still retain a high rank status.

I play casual games (only private) and i am even in a few leagues and tournaments.

High rankers are anything but over rated... The reason why most are high is because of their exceptional knowledge and strategy using of the game, Speed in freestyle games and tactics in sequential games.

Stop your low rank whinning about us being good and you being so shitty. You are not the first to just accuse us of us thinking *we are so good so we can do what we want*.

Now about a month or two ago when i just got my premium my score was around 1800 and i played completed about 400 games and i remember Fabled-Integral saying that I would never reach the first scoreboard and that all ranks below Major sucked.

Well i told him just to give me time, i said give me about 2 or 3 months then see where i am. Well its been about 2 months and my score rose more than 500 points. So before you continue to state that i will never be at the top you might want to rethink your words. All i have to say about that is, give me time and i will surpass you, easy as that.

So M-D-M all i have to say to you is come back when I have the oppurtunity to play more games in about 2 months from now and i guarantee you that I will not only be on the first page AGAIN, but i will also be contending for the top half of the page as well.

I am not sure who you are directing that question at, so I will respond:

I never called him a n00b farmer and I dont think you have to play n00bs to be a farmer. Farming by definition is playing games that will allow for an easy win, and whether it is against a n00b or because of map specialization, both give the player an advantage which is farming. Additional knowledge which your opponent does not have makes it farming and unless you (PorkandBeans) would like to join a game on Prohibition Chicago and from the moment the game begins, tell your opponent about you Giggle Juice Truck bonus or some small obscure bonus which your opponent may not realize, you are taking advantage of your opponents lack of knowledge to win. Meanwhile, Unless you (Me-Da) would go into your games on feudal telling your opponents about the disadvantages of over expanding about taking a neutral 10 when they should be building, then I dont see how you are doing anything other than picking on the less knowledgeable.
