Dragon Age: Origins

This game came out today, did anyone else buy it? I picked up a copy this morning, but I can't play it until I get my new graphics card (it'll be arriving in 3 days).

For those of you who don't know what the game's about, I'll briefly explain: it's a Baldurs Gate style RPG, with its own setting and 50-80 hours of gameplay. I'd strongly recommend it; the devs put in a lot of work and to some extent it's a return to the golden age of CRPGs.

My computer is not equipped to handle the PC version. Therefore, I'll (unfortunately) have to purchase it for Xbox360.

I was going to be going for the 360 version in the first place, as my PC playing skills aren't much past click and attack (Total War series type).

I pre-ordered it weeks and weeks ago and tomorrow it finally releases here, so I'm gonna pick it up as soon as I can ,
So I hope it really turns out as good as I believe it will be

Hell yes! I skipped school and bought a new HDMI cord just so that I could play it in 1080i! I've had it preordered for months, and I was waiting outside Gamestop for them to open so that i could get it.

No, It's a 1 player game

BTW, I'd suggest to anyone who likes this game to pick up the other Bioware titles. Knights of the Old Republic, Neverwinter Nights 1 and 2, as well as Mass Effect (If you have a 360/a computer that can handle it.)

Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate 2 are two of the best RPGs ever made (in history). Buy them. Neverwinter Nights is not as good.

Never got to play KOTR, but I did play 2 and it pissed me off. Mainly, no voices and hard as hell to read the subtitles. I did enjoy Mass Effect though.

KOTR was 10 times better than 2. I will get Dragon Age, once I get around to upgrading my graphics card.

Absolutely true, along with the Icewind Dale series. Not sure you can still BUY them, though...they're oldies but goodies.

BG must be really damn good to be better then Neverwinter Nights (the first one). I have yet to get around to playing them, but I will soon.

Baldurs Gate 2 is very, very good. The atmosphere, voice acting, quests and combat are all extremely well done. Baldurs Gate 1 is also good, but it's less polished and has less content.

WHAT!?! No 2-player simultaneous/co-op mode?

When are these games going to learn that replay value would drastically increase with such an added option?

Look at Oblivion for example. OK, it had tons of lame-ass things about it that I'd like to avoid, but if that game was 2-player, 2-system imagine how hilarious that game would be. Sure, you may not get the silly insignificant quests done, but who cares, you're laughing the whole time while playing. And if you and your friend are so serious about collecting this and that and doing this quest properly, then it can be done. But, everything's funnier and more enjoyable when you've got a friend playing alongside ya, right?

The old BG's are excellent as well, since they can be played with more than one human, so it's hilarious to have one guy trying to solve some quest or ask people around, when their friend's mace is half-way on its way to the NPC's head. Only the frozen conversation is saving him for now. BAM! Cheesy looking body parts fly everywhere! It's hilarious. Running from those Red Mages or the Red Fist or whoever they were was always a good time, too.

I remember this part in BG1 or 2, where my brother and I are facing some red dragon, and we keep getting killed. On the internet there's all these complex strategies--you know, you gotta use the +3 so-and-so with this spell and this and that, then have this guy do this, and yadyadyaydadyyadya. But they underestimated PURE STRENGTH AND DETERMINISM! We just ran in there, and kept hitting the damn dragon. After the 12th try and after many laughs, it died. Heyyy! Games like this are so much more fun with others.

I dunno, playing alone gets kind of boring; hence, less replay value. It really prevents games from having a lasting enjoyment. Maybe they make more money with only 1-player games? Doesn't make sense though... Maybe it's too difficult to implement, but it doesn't seem TOO difficult and would be worth it considering how fast the game would sell with such a rare option as 2-player mode (whether it be 2-systems or 1-system co-op, that's up to them). Hell if it was 2-system 2-player, then that's more incentive for others to buy the console and another game (assuming they haven't got the console yet).

I made a deal with myself that I would not play those games again (after playing for three days straight in law school).
