It's so people can leave their work and focus on their talent. The U.S. obviously needs more musicians, singers, and songwriters - not wage earners.

They obviously did it so that they could all quit their jobs, and subsist on nothing but government hand outs. Eventually welfare will be a better pay check than any politician can hope for, and all the filthy commies who made it that way will quit, because doing nothing will pay even better, and that's all anyone cares about, and then when the stupid socialist nazis have all quit, then you can return to the feudal system that you all claim to long lovingly for.

That's right, I ended my sentence with a preposition. It, deal with.
