But yea, everyone agrees because this forum is split into two groups:
(1) Equal-rights people (2) White racists
Equal-rights people want equality, and the white racists can't stand the fact that black's are being racist. If we had any racist black people in this forum, they'd disagree.

So when it comes to racists, AOG asks: what color are they?

and part of that decent treatment is opening all educational field trips to the entire student body
I don't think that's feasible in many instances. There are a pretty fair number of field trips that are funded solely by fundraising by that specific class. This would mean the class would have to fundraise for everyone to attend...that hardly seems fair.
Again, if the field trip is funded by the school or by the taxpayers, that's a very different story.
Even when funding is private, there are other options.
Among other things, the white kids could well have benefitted from seeing another successful black man. Racism isn't solved by dealing with only one race.

So what you're saying is...a class generates enough money for them to go on a field trip, but they can't go because they didn't generate enough money to take the whole school? That hardly seems fair.

No, that is not what I am saying at all. A whole class is fine. Taking only whites is not. Even taking only girls is on pretty shakey ground, unless it is a facility specific to women AND there is something more or less equivalent for boys. Some schools don't even allow that, though, to avoid conflict.
I've experienced quite a bit of African American self-segregation. It's kind of weird, to be honest. There were all black dorms in college, there were all black groups in law school. It's definitely weird.

From what I have heard, and according to some stories I have read, there are still segregated proms and such in the South. But that, according to said sources, is just how it has been done and that there are no hard feelings there,

True (I lived amongst the natives for 13 years). BUT most of it is also encouraged/promoted by the parents/schools. NOT the kids. Today's southern youth are much more "normal" then their backwoods parents and could really care less. Unfortunately they are unable to do much about it.

Ok, I'm with that then...no problem. I guess I misunderstood based on your reply to my reply to the statement that all educational field trips should be open to the entire student body.
But what if it's not a class, per se...but rather a club or something along the lines of the dance team we have at our school (think of them as sort of an adjunct to the cheerleaders, I guess)? If that team fundraises for an educational trip, is it acceptable for them to take the trip alone, EVEN IF the only members of that club are of a particular gender (which they are all female), even if the focus of the educational trip is NOT necessarily "female-directed" in nature?

Well, until you get the girl who is mixed race who asks "which prom should I attend' and has her teacher respond "you should not have been born" (true, I jest not!).
