i believe it was rejected because it was a lot of extra work for the servers to check whos turn it is on each game. so it only does it on your games, not game finder.

This is a good point. Having this implemented would give away online status.Darwins_Bane wrote:I personally disagree with this. If someone does not want to be followed online, then they should have the freedom of being able to hide that. I believe that was the spirit of the reason behind the phpbb code for hiding your online status.
therefore this should be moved to rejectedWoodruff wrote:This is a good point. Having this implemented would give away online status.Darwins_Bane wrote:I personally disagree with this. True, but think of how much "work" someone would need to do to determine if someone is online. Currently, the work is a lot.. You have to click on every game the player is active in. Now, you can just click on their games link and you're done. This comes not from a perspective of wanting to know whether or not someone is online in a prying manner, moreso to determine, "Should I wait to see if this person is playing me RT or if they will not be online again until tomorrow morning."Darwins_Bane wrote:I personally disagree with this. No...hardly any at all. If the yellow triangle were showing, it's obviously a dead giveaway. But even without that, just by quickly checking the games where the player following the particular individual has a green dot would do it.Queen_Herpes wrote:True, but think of how much "work" someone would need to do to determine if someone is online. This could be coded in as an option, just like posting presence may be revealed or hidden.Woodruff wrote:This is a good point. I probably didn't explain that very well. I'll try again:Woodruff wrote:No...hardly any at all. If the yellow triangle were showing, it's obviously a dead giveaway. At this point, you could easily Post on their wall asking "Hey, you online?"Queen_Herpes wrote:I probably didn't explain that very well. I'll try again:Woodruff wrote:No...hardly any at all. Currently, if interested in seeing if a player is online, you first go to their profile. (First click)
If status is hidden, you go to their games (Second click)
There are times that I can see a player is online, but I want to know if the player is actively avoiding the games against me and other freemiums. I can see that quickly and easily by seeing the red, yellow, green. Sure, I could post to the wall ot PM the player, but that wouldn't help me to know if the player is playing games or not.TheForgivenOne wrote:At this point, you could easily Post on their wall asking "Hey, you online?"Queen_Herpes wrote:I probably didn't explain that very well.
