How many players use clans?

And how many of those are active?

I wonder if we could make the clan world more accessible?

The clan world is very accessible.

Anyone can get 10 players together and form their own clan, plus clans are always searching for new talent.

As for how many players, at a very conservative estimate there are between 1000 and 1500 active clan members.

IMO, clan world is what makes CC running. most of hard core players are here mostly because of clans.
now, how to make it more accessible? for start, clan directors should use their heads. now, we know that aint happening, then bring back flame wars. right now we are having threads thats closed if everyone isnt shouting "omg, you are so great", "no, no, you are", "no way, your clan is the best", "maybe second best because yours clan rules"
and when someone colorful as eddie comes along, he gets banned. im not sure how is that accessible...

Well, the last update of F400 has 42 clans registered, and that's not including Atlantis, Agents of the Chaotic Empire, and several other new clans. So we're closer to 50 clans.

Sounds about right. If I make a rough guess at the average number of people/clan I'd say 28.

Clan scene definitely is what has kept my interest. I think CC should do more to integrate clans into the site, such as putting a link up on the top between Tournaments & Forum. Little stuff like that goes a long ways IMO.

I've grown to mostly hate the clan scene on CC. I love the people in my clan, especially the ones who've been around for many years. But the clan scene, and all the petty drama that goes with it, I've got very little patience for.

You're absolutely right. When I bought my first premium membership (for $20 back in March of 2007) it was so I could join tournaments. Since then I've been involved in tourneys throughout my time here on CC. In fact, of my 4,473 completed games, 3,926 (roughly 88%) of them are tournament games.

I know at Empire we had only made it to 20k, it'd be interesting to hear what other clans have as an indication of activity levels

How long / posts would be interesting as well. 30k compared to 20k but which started up before the other and how long where they around.

Example:
the Fallen started June 2012, and have 8,500 posts. 13 month / 8,500 post = (avg) 650+ post per month.
