*shrug* I'm not the one who decided that a ceremony that was traditionally religious in nature should be co-opted to become a ceremony that is now mainly of civil importance. But it happened, and so the 14th amendment either demands marriages for no one (and maybe some sort of "civil union" thing to take care of the legal rights that people generally want) or marriages for everyone. Extending marriage rights to gay people doesn't violate the first amendment "more." If the first amendment was violated, it happened a long time ago. And by people who were religious and wanted to violate the first amendment for their own benefit.
Such a gentle way of putting how yall hijacked it and bragged about it in the process. Marriage is a religious institution, say you didn't decide that all you want, but it's the same as 'i'm not the one who wrote the bill of rights....so....' marriage always has been religious, until progressives decided we need to have redistribution of wealth through our tax code, and BOOM, here we are! Bottom line, amendments are not supposed to go against other amendments. Hopefully now that you had a couple years to think about it you will concede I did in fact have a legitimate point that gay marriage will in fact chip away at the first amendment, and that's one of the two most important amendments that everybody knows about and understands are lynchpins of Freedom and Liberty. How much you think is left for food and gas? Heat and electric? Water and sewage? garbage, cell phone, internet, cable/sattelite? Realize I haven't even brought up rent/mortage payment/insurance and your own personal health care plan???.....how much do you figure you will have left?
