Yeah. Once september arrives it will start going up.Mr Changsha wrote:9981..I predict we are fairly close to the bottom (into august etc).

Nobody's ears are deaf. They don't need this thread to figure out for themselves that the site is in decline. They literally work night and day modernizing the site and coming up with new features to entice new users.owenshooter wrote:9,989... oh my... what i really love is how this thread has been running for YEARS and still seems to fall on deaf ears...-el Jesus negro

You heard it here folks, the decline is over! Hurray!! Just don't talk about next summer though, don't you dare talk about next summer! In fact, don't even think about next summer!! I'm confident that neither Oliver nor Changsha will fall into that horrible trap, I on the other hand am struggling with that, I don't have the gift of ignorance.OliverFA wrote:Yeah. How's that worked for them?Dukasaur wrote:Nobody's ears are deaf. They don't need this thread to figure out for themselves that the site is in decline. Yeah, and people keep working on Urban Beautification Projects, and yet the cities are still ugly as hell. If you can put your cynicysm aside for just a minute, you might think that there's value in trying to do the right thing, even if it might in the end be a doomed effort.jammyjames wrote:How's that worked for them?Dukasaur wrote:Nobody's ears are deaf. So, if a plan doesn't work, yell, "cynicysm," at the critics, then continue the plan?Dukasaur wrote:Yeah, and people keep working on Urban Beautification Projects, and yet the cities are still ugly as hell. sometimes... i read these responses... i read these responses... and i just don't really have a response to the non-sense i have just polluted my eyes and mind with... did he really compare team CC's efforts to those of urban beautification plans?!! let me tell you something, when you plant a tree, there is an absolute start and finish to the plan that has the desired effect. what team CC has done has no rhyme or reason and the end effect is counter to whatever it is they thought it would accomplish... "let's run all the forum regulars off, that will make the site more attractive to potential investors." that worked out well... hasbro snatched it right up and the forum community is flourishing after the great purge (*cough*)... "let's flood the site with so many settings, that we can and will accommodate every possible freaking Risk player in the world with game play that they have NEVER SEEN, but will SURELY LOVE!!!" that pretty much ran people off in droves and killed off many styles of play that were the staple of the site... imagine if you were new again and popped in on this site and were looking for something as close to RISK as possible... good fucking luck, it will take you weeks to fill a game... and if you are new, you have no chance of doing that... it is just a big bloated mess with too many shiny whistles and bells and levers that aren't necessary and are killing off the site... people have stated in other threads that CC should have expanded into other board games and just left the RISK portion alone... i agree 100%... the biz model has failed, it is time to scrap it and try something new... perhaps taking on an urban renewal approach will work... *cough*...-el Jesus negroBigBallinStalin wrote:So, if a plan doesn't work, yell, "cynicysm," at the critics, then continue the plan?
Does anyone else think that this approach is irrational?

And also, who cares? I tried to play a game here just recently and there was some bug that unabled me to attack the provinces I wanted to attack, fucking crapsite, I couldn' care less how deep it falls into the dung.owenshooter wrote:Dukasaur wrote:Yeah, and people keep working on Urban Beautification Projects, and yet the cities are still ugly as hell. The Fix, the fix would start by removing most of the shit games modes that have been added. Forcing users to go back to more of an original "Risk" game.Tenebrus wrote:That's a pretty huge drop. There's probably a tipping point as well, when the departures accelerate because there aren't enough players around to maintain even the current level of activity. I know that I'm seriously considering quitting given that I'm only really interested in speed games, and my real love speed fs is totally dead now.
The problem with fixing the crazy proliferation in maps, and game settings is that it's gone too far. You delete a lot of settings now, and you'll lose some of the people who are sticking around. Hard to really see a fix tbh.

Ubisoft today announced that it is bringing the global military strategy sim, first launched as a board game in the U.S. back in 1959, to Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3. It will be released in September via a Hasbro Game Channel that will also include Monopoly and Trivial Pursuit. A spokesperson for Ubisoft told Polygon that the Hasbro Game Channel will be free to download, but that prices for individual games have yet to be decided.

In Risk, players place armies on various territories around the world, and seek to conquer neighboring countries using dice rolls. The console version of the game will allow would-be Napoleons to take on opponents locally or online. Graphics for the game are based on modern weapons.
"We're bringing Hasbro's classic games to the digital age, capturing all the excitement and fun of these timeless games," said Ubisoft's Chris Early. "The new console experiences will offer a brand new channel with both familiar and new gameplay modes, various missions, achievements and rewards for endless fun with friends and family."
Well that's not helping us at all!!!AndyDufresne wrote:This may or may not be relevant: Risk is on its way to consoles (Polygon Article).

Oh, flabio, you know you like it~! You don't have to suppress your true feelings from us. We're here for you.flabio wrote:This new format is ghey. Get rid of it!!!
I agree 100% with this sentiment. When I first joined this site, I was excited about it because it was RISK online. The fact that you could play what was basically the same game on different basic maps had me interested, and tournaments had me hooked. But at the heart of it all was RISK (without the copyright). It was basic. I looked through my first page of games. Granted, I joined in 2007 when almost all maps were basic. On that first page, I played USApocalypse once. Didn't like the map. In fact, out of my 4,747 games, I've played a total of 3 on USApocalypse; that first one, a private one ten months later, and then a tournament game one year after that, meaning my last game on that map was in 2009. Played one Circus Maximus on that page... only 6 games total, the last five after that first one all tournament games, and the last one was in 2011. The only other non-basic map on this page was King of the Mountains, which I wanted to play because I met the mapmaker IRL.Mr Changsha wrote:Generally, CC will begin to recover when it gets back to being a site about RISK and less to do with pleasing hardcore obsessive nerds who never represented the overall community one bit anyway.
Your average player here wants to play a 6 man game of RISK, probably sequentially and either foggy or sunny and he wants to play it on a map he can understand without the use of add-ons he has no idea about anyway.
Can it be doubted that this player is now far less well served than he was four or five years ago?

What kind of idiots would buy this. Playing a board game on a console is like getting a hooker and playing golf with her.AndyDufresne wrote:This may or may not be relevant: Risk is on its way to consoles (Polygon Article).
