There is a whole lot of spam that comes out of some of Spamalot's members; some of it is witty and ought to be welcomed; but a percentage of it is just mindless drivel that just gets in the way of any kind of discussion.
Lately the mods have got into something of an anti-Spamalot mentality because they're (probably justifiably) annoyed about the deluges of rubbish that choke up certain forum threads. They're quite right in deleting this in several cases, and in warning certain posters who are persistent offenders.
Unfortuneately a lot of other posters are guilty of doing precisely the same sort of thing; but there's a developing tendancy to blame Spamalot for all spam, while overlooking the fact that there's quite a lot of other spammy posters who need a reprimand too.
Basically the mods are having a spam-crackdown (and that's probably a good thing), but the hammer is falling disproportionately hard on Spamalot, and unfortuneately the increased level of scrutiny it's catching instances of funny or accepted spam; which is slightly annoying, but something we probably just have to put up with for a couple of weeks.
