Gay marriage

I want legitimate answers to this: what is a logical reason for not allowing gay marriage other than personal religious beliefs. The only argument I've ever heard is "the bible says that marriage is between a man and a woman." I want to hear rationale for not allowing gay rights.

BTW I am writing this from an American perspective, I am not sure the laws in many other countries, but feel free to respond from your own perspectives

You do know we don't need to have sex to reproduce these days.. Science has helped us with that, so actually, if everybody was gay, it wouldn't matter because we would have the technology to keep reproducing whilst keeping everybody's sexual preferences.

You only believe 'gays' are 'scary' because you have never met one and are told via your mummy and daddy that gays are the biggest, meanest, baddest things in the whole universe! Even worse than Muslims and Atheists! Yes, they're so bad that they go against the Bible's wishes, but then, so does everybody at the moment, so hey! it doesn't matter.

#2 The bible also doesn't tell the truth
#3 allowing gay marriage would in no way make everyone gay
#4 You are just too self-absorbed and prejudiced to understand anything or anyone other than yourself

If that is what you think then we would still have slavery. It is our responsibility to stand up for what's morally right.

And for idiots *cough* the_fatty *cough* who say "But there's no Amendment saying people can be gay" I'd like to direct you to the Amendment (I forget which one) that says that rights are not limited to the one's in the Bill of Rights. I think you mean civil unions. I might be wrong but there are I think 3 that allow civil unions and only one that allows actual gay marriage and I'm pretty sure its Massachusetts

2. The bible lies alot. If it was accurate the universe would be 6000 years old and the moon can't get that many craters in that short a period.

I think it should be legalized, it does not affect anybody outside the marriage.

Seriously, what's going to happen? You're probably the same kind of person that thinks that if we legalize pot, there's a slippery slope; we'd then legalize cocaine, then heroine, etc. etc. etc. Or the type of person that thinks that if we nationalize healthcare for everybody, we'd slip into socialism. We let the gays marry, it's not like more gays will pop out of bushes and 'infect' the cities. It's not like the dudes who want to marry their dogs would want to make a law. It would end there. Why the hell should the government be dictating who should get married? It's never made ANY sense to me. There is absolutely no reason why the government should have any say in this.

I think homosexual behavior is wrong, immoral, and against the Word of God, but I do not think that the government should have any say in a person's choice to do it or not. I would certainly be one to speak out against homosexuality, but I would NOT be one to speak in favor of the government stopping it.
