Um. No.Army of GOD wrote: But yea, everyone agrees because this forum is split into two groups:

Equal-rights people want equality, and the white racists can't stand the fact that black's are being racist.
The administrators of my school district have ruined education for the children. It’s the principal of the thing that I object to.bradleybadly wrote:This has been bugging me every time we talk about school issues
principle is not a principal

So when it comes to racists, AOG asks: what color are they?Army of GOD wrote:You suck.jonesthecurl wrote:I disagree.

Even when funding is private, there are other options.Woodruff wrote:I don't think that's feasible in many instances. There are a pretty fair number of field trips that are funded solely by fundraising by that specific class. This would mean the class would have to fundraise for everyone to attend...that hardly seems fair.silvanricky wrote:and part of that decent treatment is opening all educational field trips to the entire student bodyPLAYER57832 wrote:Exactly. Again, if the field trip is funded by the school or by the taxpayers, that's a very different story.
So what you're saying is...a class generates enough money for them to go on a field trip, but they can't go because they didn't generate enough money to take the whole school? That hardly seems fair.PLAYER57832 wrote:Even when funding is private, there are other options.Woodruff wrote:I don't think that's feasible in many instances. Among other things, the white kids could well have benefitted from seeing another successful black man. Racism isn't solved by dealing with only one race.
No, that is not what I am saying at all. A whole class is fine. Taking only whites is not. Even taking only girls is on pretty shakey ground, unless it is a facility specific to women AND there is something more or less equivalent for boys. Some schools don't even allow that, though, to avoid conflict.Woodruff wrote:So what you're saying is...a class generates enough money for them to go on a field trip, but they can't go because they didn't generate enough money to take the whole school? From what I have heard, and according to some stories I have read, there are still segregated proms and such in the South. But that, according to said sources, is just how it has been done and that there are no hard feelings there, thegreekdog wrote:I've experienced quite a bit of African American self-segregation. True (I lived amongst the natives for 13 years). BUT most of it is also encouraged/promoted by the parents/schools. NOT the kids. Today's southern youth are much more "normal" then their backwoods parents and could really care less. Unfortunately they are unable to do much about it.muy_thaiguy wrote:From what I have heard, and according to some stories I have read, there are still segregated proms and such in the South. I guess I misunderstood based on your reply to my reply to the statement that all educational field trips should be open to the entire student body.PLAYER57832 wrote:No, that is not what I am saying at all. Well, until you get the girl who is mixed race who asks "which prom should I attend' and has her teacher respond "you should not have been born" (true, I jest not!).muy_thaiguy wrote:From what I have heard, and according to some stories I have read, there are still segregated proms and such in the South.
