1v1 Germany: Double Elimination (Winner: DBandit70)

Post by WorldCup4James »

This tournament is in memory of my wonderful grandmother who recently passed away on April 24. She lived in Germany all her life; her kindness and love has inspired me to honor her in this tournament and has also inspired me to have 24 players and to have all games take place on the Germany map.

UPDATES FOR THE TOURNAMENT CAN BE FOUND HERE--Last updated August 15, 9:22 A.M. Eastern Time

Well, everyone, we´re there: We´ve Reached the Finals!
A series of 3 games shall decide the victor of the tournament; either zat, or DBandit70. Game 7435080, Game 7446990, Game 7471936.

I am out of town and have limited access to a computer. As a result, tournaments may not be updated daily, and scoreboards in my tournaments might not be updated due to lack of software I use for them. Thanks for your understanding.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tournament rules and policy can be reviewed below:
The Official Rules of the 1v1 Germany: Double Elimination
Note that, as tournament organizer, I have the final say on all issues regarding rules and games. I will attempt to be reasonable and listen to players´opinions but occasionally events will turn up where difficult decisions will have to be made. As organizer I have to make those decisions and players will have to live with them.
This is the one and only set of rules applying to this tournament. Any other information regarding rules acquired from another source is not authentic and may be false. Any questions about the rules should be directed only to the tournament organizer.

All players accepted: Only 1 game slot needs to be kept open! Please be sure you can commit this spot to the tournament though; I hate having to deal with no-shows! :(

Tournament Style
-24 players are randomly divided into 3 groups of 8 players.

-Each group will have its own seeding, meaning each group will have a #1 seed and a #8 seed. The #1 seed will be the player in the group with the highest score, and the #8 seed will be the player in the group with the lowest score.

-Scores for all players will be posted when the seeding is posted, and players will have the same seeding throughout the entire group stage. The list of scores will not be revised throughout the tournament. Even if your score improves throughout the tournament, it will not affect your seeding in the later stages of the tournament.

-Group play features 1v1, Double Elimination (meaning 2 losses and you’re out of the tournament!). At this point, all 24 players are in!

Opening Games: Everyone’s first game: In each group, #1 seed plays #8 seed, #2 seed plays #7 seed, #3 seed plays #6 seed, and #4 seed plays #5 seed. The 4 winners proceed into the Winners Bracket, and the 4 losers proceed into the Losers Bracket. Play then proceeds as indicated by the scoreboard. Players who lose in the Winners Bracket move over to the Losers Bracket (having lost a game), while winners stay in their bracket and proceed down the tournament, nearing their group’s final at the bottom of the scoreboard. Those who lose in the Losers Bracket are eliminated from the tournament.

-Group Final: The winner of the winners bracket and the winner of the losers bracket (the only 2 players left in the group) meet in their respective Group Final. The finalist from the Losers Bracket must beat the finalist from the Winners Bracket twice in order to win the Group Final. The winner of each of the three group finals automatically qualifies for the Elimination Round, and the three losers qualify for the Wildcard Game, and are NOT eliminated (despite having lost twice); they still have a chance to make it to the Elimination Round.
-All 1v1 match-ups will be decided by seeding as performed above (highest score plays lowest score).

-Groups will play independently of each other, so one group may finish before the other.

-Wildcard Game and Elimination Round: Single Elimination: 1 loss and you’re out!
At this point, only 6 players are left in the tournament (3 group winners and 3 group final losers).
3-Player Wildcard Game: The loser of each Group Final play in this game. The winner will proceed to the Elimination Round as the 4th player in the Elimination Round. Losers are eliminated.
Elimination Round: 4 Players are seeded as before, #1-#4(highest score plays lowest score, and the other 2 play each other). The winners of these 2 games move on to Das Grosse Endspiel (The Great Final). The losers are eliminated.
Das Grosse Endspiel (The Great Final): The last 2 players alive in the tournament fight in a series of 3 games for tournament victory. The first to win 2 of the 3 games is the winner of the tournament! If a player wins the first 2 games, they have already won the tournament, and thus the third game is not necessary.
“No Show” Policy
I really believe the winner of the tournament shall be decided on the battlefield, and not in the rulebook. As a result, I am granting a generous 72 hours (3 days) for a player to join their game, as well as a given amount of “leniency time”. I will be very accommodating with this policy, particularly in the Opening Games; I don’t want a player to get off to a bad start for being a few hours too late in joining.
If I feel the policy is being abused and a player isn’t joining within, in my opinion, 3 days and a little bit of leniency time, they will be credited with a loss and their opponent will be credited with a victory.
What I don’t want is people to P.M. me saying “it’s been 3 days” or “a couple hours until my opponent forfeits.”
Let strategy, not policy, prevail. After all, “policy is what the kingpins want!”
No reserves will be needed for this tournament

This is my second tournament; thanks for joining! If you want to see my other tournament currently in progress (to see how I manage things), here's the link: viewtopic.php?f=91&t=119065

Lol, nice. If you're lucky you'll get into the same group. Or, you'll meet at the end in the Elimination Round...
