[Winners: first post] Initech XXVI: Rails x3

Post by Peter Gibbons »

WINNERS: aaronvollrath, bigroo4601, & aspalm

While Initech XXV meanders along and other Initechs slowly reach their conclusions, I wanted to introduce a triples tournament. This edition of Initech will be dedicated to the Rails. I present: Initech XXVI: Rails x3.

OVERVIEW
2-round, 9-team, 48-game, 4-map, triples tournament. All teams guaranteed 8 games. Max games for an individual team is 16.

ELIGIBLE PLAYERS
Premium only, sorry. You'll need more than 4 games open at all times.

RULES
Like all Initechs, every game will be Sequential, Chained, Flat Rate, Foggy, Automatic Deploy

MAPS
Rail Africa, Rail Australia, Rail Europe and Rail USA

ROUNDS
Nine teams will be divided into three groups of 3. Each team will play every other team in its group on each of the 4 maps. So each team will have played 8 games by the conclusion of the group. The team with the most wins advances to the final group.

The three finalists repeat the same system in the championship round. The team with the most wins in the final group is tournament champion.

SEEDINGS
The tournament will not be seeded.

TIEBREAKERS
In the first round, the tiebreaker will be the head-to-head record between the tied teams. If the record is 2-2, a one-match playoff will be conducted on Rail USA.

In the final round, the first tiebreaker will be the head-to-head record between the tied teams. A second tiebreaker will be most wins from the first round. If still tied, the third tiebreaker will be a one-match playoff conducted on Rail USA.

Bump. Been really busy with the other tournament but ready to get this off the ground. If we fall short of 16 teams, we can run it with 12. Let's see how registration goes in the next week...

Re-worked into a 12-team tournament. Same principles apply. But now we're 66% of the way there, rather than halfway...

You'll need to start the tournament by the end of the weekend.

I just saw this as I'm traveling and one of the players who has registered alerted me. Is it okay for me to go ahead with 9 teams I get one more? Reformatting to 9 is simple, but I'm not sure what the minimum is for triples.

Minimum for triples is 8 teams. PM me once you've reformatted and I'll issue privs.

Ok good. I think I will have the 9th team shortly. Got a player on the hook, just need to have him get his teammates in order. And sorry for being unresponsive this week--I'm physically moving for July 1 and switching jobs, so it's a hectic time!

Groups drawn and games created... just need a few free moments to send all the invites, but the start shouldn't be that long off.

Group C is decided, with just a couple games to complete.

Group A about halfway done and the board is updated.

Group B is a little behind, so no update yet.
