It sounds like you're arguing to reassign the gender descriptions. Essentially, "men's" division is now the "women's", and the "women's" is now the "men's".

No, that is just wrong. If all the men competed in the ladies division and all the women competed in the men's division you would have everything the same but the titles reversed. They have to complete in the same division.
